Kind of sad to know that both Tim McGraw and Faith Hill didn't make it (that's who they are to me, not Duttons) and Hill died such a miserable death. Very Alien 3 approach to dealing with the characters.
James and Margaret Dutton had three kids. Elsa, John Dutton Sr (both on 1883), and Spencer. Spencer was born sometime between 1883 and 1893 and is the one in Africa. John Dutton Sr. is on the ranch and his son, Jack, is the one who is getting married to the blonde. John Dutton II (father of John Dutton III - Kevin Costner), has yet to be seen as a young version, only as an older version in a flashback on Yellowstone.

Very Alien 3 approach to dealing with the characters. Then again, it does fall in line with what Beth said about the Dutton women not living very long lives. I wouldn't be surprised if the series ends with her dying herself. No way they would do it before then, as she is arguably the most popular character. Hope Kelly Reilly gets paid accordingly.
How old was Faith Hills character in 1983? She is 55 today, so if she was 50 when 1983 happened, she died around/in 60's, which is still pretty old for that time period. Same with McGraw.

I assume they will touch a bit on that history at some point in this show given the two kid and the narrator.

I just assumed that James and Margaret were in their late 30s or early 40s. I mean they were the parents of a teen daughter. They were definitely playing younger even though McGraw and Hill are very mature looking. I suppose they could be playing mid 30s because people did marry real young back then.

“Family trees” show them both being born in 1840. So 43ish

This show is borderline torture porn with the native American scenes.

Exactly. This has me hoping the original series ends with the Native Americans getting back their land.

Don't think it is that he is old it's that he is so frail looking. It's really distracting.

The physical, sexual and emotional abuse that Teonna is enduring at that school is tough to watch. Linus Roche's priest is a scumbag. I hope Teonna kills him and Sister Mary and eventually finds her grandma.

I was surprised that Jacob and his men didn't bother watching Banner and his men's full execution. Of course Banner survives and he happened to have a knife in his saddle.

I did enjoy the scenes in Africa more this week as we got more story with Spencer and his adventures. And it looks like Alexandra was smitten with him in that chance meeting and will probably become part of his life. But for how long, who knows? As his fate is probably going to be revealed by the end of the season.

The 1st episode was a little disjointed as I said last week. This one felt a little more smoother integrating the B and C plots.

Hearty episode and they spared us the Native American abuse.

Interview with one of the stars about that big episode. I know most here probably aren't caught up, so only click the link if you are caught up. It's an interesting read:

Sorry but
Spoiler:
IRL Harry and the blonde woman are dead after those bullet wounds in that day and age. No way it's not heavily infected from the time he was shot, blood loss, an advanced age for Dutton, and primitive medical technology of the day.

The 'finance" in Africa is extremely cute and I don't usually go for petite blondes.

Interesting, Looks like the Yellowstone ranch and Spencer in Africa scenes:

Spoiler:

Take place in 2 different time periods:

The reveal at the end with Alex saying that Cara's letter was written 3 months ago.

It was a good, but slightly rushed follow up to last week. The war flashbacks scenes with Spencer looked pretty good. Almost movie quality. The abuse scenes with the Nuns and Teonna were tough to watch. And then what she did. I loved Cara taking charge and being the boss. She's definitely got a plan against Banner.

I guess this was the midseason finale. New episodes don't return until February 5th.

I'm still not understanding how the native girls story ties into the main story

You're not supposed to, yet. I guess her escape brings her to the Yellowstone.

Teonna's last name is Rainwater

She's more than likely a relative of Thomas Rainwater from Yellowstone. How does a relative of a minor supporting character from Yellowstone tie into the Dutton's story? I don't know. I'm sure it will be addressed eventually.

I mean they could be leading into the formation of the Broken Rock Reservation.

Trailer for the second half of the season. Looks like Spencer and his fiancé are heading back to America.
