Totally missed this but will give it a try via Comcast on-demand. Sounds like something I would want to try out.

I enjoyed it.
A principal spending $3K on a sign instead of supplies was something I could see some of the principals I've had do.

Formulaic as hell, but I thought it was funny. This episode was literally my first few months as a grade school teacher, even down to the hard ass teacher in the classroom next door. I hope it sticks around.

Somehow I found this more depressing than funny.

Yeah, I liked the cast, but it seemed too familiar and the underlying premise with an underfunded public school is going to be hard to laugh at week after week.

Yeah, I think if Parks and Rec were about someone who was optimistic about their environments just to get crushed time and time again, I'm not sure they'd be as enjoyable.
Parks and Rec settled into a groove where Leslie was optimistic and surrounded by idiots but at least she had agency to change things. The Office, Jim is not some wide-eyed newbie who wants to change the world, he's already this cynical jokester. I guess something like Superstore had episodes where you just felt the weight of the world on these people, though. Maybe since I know many teachers this just hits too close to home for me.
Also, I'm not sure if this is part of the parody but that one guy who was hired as the principal only to get passed over, and then wants to be a substitute until he can be a principal again... I couldn't even laugh at that because why the heck don't they hire someone with like some experience in the trenches?

Yes. She blackmailed someone who she found out was having an affair because she needed a job. That person attends her Church and works with the school district.
I didnt know much going in but I liked it a lot. The lead teacher was in "A Black Lady Sketch Show" and was great. I also love the actress playing the Principal.

Anyone else still watching?
I read it's quadrupled it's ratings since the premiere. I completely missed the fact the Quinta Brunson, who plays Janine, also created the show.
Ava comes across as a character that everyone should hate, but she's hilarious. The scene last night where she sat down jsut to fall off her chair laughing was great

I like the show and like that it takes place in Philly but that’s barely been part of it other then one episode.
Still having some issue with the lead teacher, she’s just weird.

I'm watching. That's great news about the ratings! Janelle James who plays "Principal Ava" is getting a lot of attention in this role. People love her in this.

I love this show but had no clue that it was also doing well in the ratings, so happy to hear that a second season should eventually be on the way. I would say that it is an underrated show, but maybe it just feels that way because if is not talked about a lot on sites like this one, but folks are clearly watching.
