Pretty embarrassing. This entertainment journalist apparently had no idea Lee Jung-jae has been a movie star in South Korea for 27 years and interviewed him like he's a newcomer.

To be fair being a movie star in South Korea for 27 years doesn't mean the average person outside of South Korea knows who he is.
I for one certainly didn't. Never seen or heard of him prior to Squid Game.
So him coming to the US and being recognized for Squid Game while trying to eat dinner in a restaurant is still likely a big thing for him despite how long he's been a movie star in South Korea.

Did you even listen to the interview? She asked him about leaving his house and the show being a "life changing" experience. When he's widely known in Korea already. He kind of laughed it off. It had nothing to do with a PR visit in America. He did say he's recognized in the U.S., so it did help his PR here. He was polite to the interviewer.

and she's an entertainment journalist, she should have done some research on him.

I’m OK with this as long as it’s not just a new game. I’m hoping Gi-hun uses his money to finance a vigilante effort to shut the game down. I also wouldn’t mind seeing a B story line about how the circles, triangles and squares get their jobs and why they are treated like prisoners.

Re: Squid Game (Netflix)

My girlfriend and I have been watching this over the past couple weeks. Finished up the first season last night.

Overall I thought it was pretty good mostly. Some annoying characters, but they all met their demise anyways. I agree with most that the VIPS episode was the weakest one.

Spoiler:
The season finale episode was okay. The “game” wasn’t much, but at that point it kind of made sense I suppose. I was a tad surprised by the twist with the old man being behind things.

Part of me feels like this should have been a single self-contained series rather than making it go for more than a season. Not sure how much can be done to keep it fresh.

I was very entertained by this, especially the "marbles" episode. The drama level surprised me. I thought the ending could have been better though.

No legit news source has confirmed this story. RFA is shady as hell, too. RFA is owned by U.S. Agency for Global Media. If you look up who owns them, well, it's the US government. It's basically a "source" that was created to publish propaganda. It's a hit piece on against NK. Not that they need a hit piece written on them, this shit is most likely made up since we don't get along with NK.
