I watched the season premiere last night on AMC+
Pretty good IMO. Although I still can't name half the characters. Now they are back to the "bigger" episodes after that lower budget 6 episode extension. They did pick things up at the commonwealth where Ezekiel and his group were captured by those storm trooper looking soldiers. I believe that was episode 16, which aired last October. There was some funny moments, especially during the interrogation scenes. "How many bowel movements do you have in a day?"![LOL](/images/smilies/lol.gif)
The A story involved the main characters looking for food and they ran into a new group of walkers called "Lurkers" Angela Kang explained in the post episode featurette that they are part of the comic lore. Negan and Maggie were at each other's throats.
I already mentioned above the final season is being broken into 3 8-episode groups. So it's a long final season.

AMC+ makes me feel like a second class citizen now. Gotta wait a week to watch what others are watching now. I don't think it's worth it just to get the show a week early. I guess AMC doesn't care about spoilers getting out there before the show airs on AMC. Do all AMC shows appear early on AMC+? It'll suck for the Better Call Saul finale if that's the case.

And it's not just AMC+ It's a bundle that also includes Shudder, Sundance Now and IFC. Gangs of London originally aired on AMC+ uncensored.
I seem to be the only one who watched episode 1 of season 11 early. Most here don't subscribe to AMC+, so I wouldn't be concerned about feeling left out. Pretty much no one here watches stuff in sync anymore.

AMC just has to AMC. Now a season is broken into 3 parts?

I get that it's a lot of episodes. So why isn't it two or three seasons?
My view was that it's turned into a shit show that I just want to get the end of. Hearing 'The Final Season' made me think it'd be over soon. Now it appears that it'll be almost 2 years.

With the extra six episodes they added from the previous season, they could have added that to some episodes from this season and then broken the later half into a separate season. Maybe they want to market it as :The Final Season" for marketing reasons, so the more they have in this season, maybe they expect hirer ratings. It's really not a final season though since Daryl and Carol are getting a show when this one ends. So they are basically continuing the story after this one ends, just with a smaller cast from the original show.

They will do what they want to do regardless. As for myself, given my level of care, I will most likely just completely ignore it until it's all out before I watch it around 2022 or later.

Calling it one season allows them to do it all without having to renegotiate any contracts that might be up after one or more seasons.

The season officially premieres tonight on AMC
Episode 2 is now up on AMC+
Good follow up to the premiere.
There is a death, But, I don't know if anyone here recalls the character:
And I
when Daryl stuffed the grenade in the walkers mouth and kicked him to the horde of walkers and slammed the door shut before things blew up.
Episode concluded with an attack that ended on a cliffhanger.
I really like the AMC+ episode recaps at the end with Angela Kang. She really helps explain some details that you might not pick up on while watching the episode.
Well, I guess I'm going to be 1 week ahead.

its just 24 as opposed to 16....so its just an extra 8 episodes. They are filing them all at once, so it really is once season, just extra long. Not really a big deal considering COVID cut them short, and they tacked on 6 "bonus" episodes from last season that few people were actually in.

That first episode... as usual, I don't get why they do the things they do.
Why dangerously slink quietly down in the middle of sleeping walkers? When the walkers woke up, they were picking them off one-by-one from the root - which they could've just done from the beginning. Kill them all and then you can grab all the supplies you want.
That's the second character C. Thomas Howell played on the show. Can't remember how he fared the first time, but I knew he was a goner as soon as I saw him. I think I remember him getting killed off a lot when he's got a small role in a show/movie.

Did they just completely gloss over how Yumiko and Eugene were able to get stormtrooper's armor? I know Princess was mentioning that two of them were hooking up, but that still doesn't explain how they were able to get out of their cage and get the armor.

My wife asked me the same thing. I don't think they said anything. I just assumed that they weren't technically locked up in the cages and they knew exactly when to walk out thanks to Princess.

Yeah, I wondered the same thing. The whole stormtrooper storyline took way too long for it to simply amount to a vigorous screening process.

Kinda surprised on a show that has turned story padding into a true art form, they didn't choose to run 30 minutes or more on the scheme.

Other than the 'how they stole the armor mystery', these first 2 season episodes have been the strongest in a long time.

Well, I didn't want to spoil that because that hasn't aired officially yet. That doesn't air on AMC until next week. And like I said, the recap at the end of episode explains many details that you may not have caught.
