Well at least one of them had a beard, so I would think he'd be at the very least 18 years old or so.
All of them going mad from being in the house... all of them... and in the exact same way? I get them turning into cannibals... and even going evil in the process. But going from civilised to feral makes no sense. Yea, turn off some logic with the show - but it still has to be grounded in some sort of reality.

Re: The Walking Dead (AMC) -- The Final Season Trilogy -- Premieres 8/22/21 & 2022

Just a few thoughts from episode 7 from AMC+ Doesn't air until next week.

Spoiler:

The stuff with Daryl, his ex-girlfriend and the Reapers I'm finding pretty boring. I hope there is a big payoff.

I did like Maggie and Negan's honest conversation of what has transpired so far and Negan giving his perspective. They reflected back to when Rick led an attack on Negan's people a few seasons ago and murdered most of his men. Negan said he was pretty upset about that incident and the lives lost. I guess him training Maggie to act like a Walker with the mask will be reflected in episode 8, the 1st season break.

This episode did try to cram in a lot. There were literally 4 plots going. Daryl, Maggie and Negan, Yumiko and Tomichi and Eugene. I think it did get a little muddled. Glad Eugene punched that douche.

It was done well from a horror movie perspective (although did Connie forget she was in a hallway and could easily move back a few feet to avoid getting knifed?), but the feral people made no sense. They look to be in their 20's, so they were at least 10 years old when the ZA started. Why did they devolve to animals?
Because they were 10 years old when the ZA started.

And didn't you guys see Threads, the British made-for-TV nuke movie? At the end of that movie, people weren't even using a discernible language anymore.

It was a pretty enjoyable episode. Certainly better than 50 minutes of low volume talking followed by a zombie attack.

I hated this last episode. They were doing pretty good up to this one. Feral kids... Dumb as fuck.

Are Negan and Maggie going to get together during this season?

If anything, the people on Walking Dead are far far far too civilized for being so far into a zombie apocalypse. The feral kids would be the norm by this time.

I don't think so. She wants to kill him.

and in episode 7 he admits:

Spoiler:

if he had to do it all over again, he would kill everyone including her.

So, the Pope is killed in the part 1 finale. Good. I can only imagine the casting director when the guy (don't know his name) got the part: "OK, this is Norman Reedus. Your goal is to be less articulate than him. Go!"

His response makes sense, though. And he was right - From his viewpoint he should have killed them all and he would still have his people and safe home. He wasn't wrong - they slaughtered a bunch of men at his satellite stations and stole a child!

Yeah, Negan's response is simply the honest truth. Hate it or like it, he doesn't mince words. Doesn't mean he's gunning to kill everyone now. It's just him simply admitting his past mistake.

Shoot even viewers of the show back then knew immediately that not killing everyone was a mistake. We didn't doubt Rick and the gang was gonna retaliate and come out on top. It was all a matter of when, not if.

Ugh...good start to the season. Not a good finish for the first half. Reedus is sleep walking this season.

Re: The Walking Dead (AMC) -- The Final Season Trilogy -- Premieres 8/22/21 & 2022

Yeah, this season has been a turgid mess.

They're out of story (and characters) from the comic book, so they're really winging it now with Reapers. They should probably do more with the Commonwealth, which is more interesting than more people running around the woods in masks.

(The Commonwealth storyline from the comics, which ended up being the finale of the series, revolved heavily around Rick, Michonne, Dwight, Carl, and Eugene. Looks like they've given Michonne's arc to Yumiko, not sure who will get Dwight and Rick's arcs if they go in that direction.)

Pope has to be the worst baddie in the whole series. So annoying. His whole schtick was stupid.

I finally finished the part 1 finale yesterday after being ahead most of the season. It didn’t end on much of a cliffhanger. It just ended. Kind of ended on a thud after the really strong start. Pope did end up being a lame villain. And his death was neither shocking or surprisIng.

Season 11, Part 2 is now up on AMC+. Episode 9 to be exact.

If you still watch this show, and bought that 1-year AMC+ promo, you can watch it a week early.

Interesting end to the first episode of Part 2. I'm guessing it's not what it appears to be. Hope we see more of Negan. He's been the best part of the last few seasons.

Re: The Walking Dead (AMC) -- The Final Season Trilogy -- Premieres 8/22/21 & 2022

So this officially premieres on AMC tonight.

I just watched it on AMC+ late last night as I know episode 10 is now up.

I thought it was a pretty good episode. Gabriel was pretty badass in that one scene. And Maggie took no bullshit from Leah and the Reapers.

So I guess Negan is parting ways with the main group for the time being as he knows he and Maggie are so close to killing each other and he thinks it's in his best interest to go away....for now.

Re: The Walking Dead (AMC) -- The Final Season Trilogy -- Premieres 8/22/21 & 2022

I watched episode 10 last night on AMC+

It was a backstory episode about Daryl, Carol, Rosita inside the Commonwealth. It also sets up how Daryl and Rosita trains to become part of the Commonwealth army or the "Storm Troopers" I thought it was interesting follow up on the "6 months later" cliffhanger from the previous episode.

Laila Robbins plays the "Governor" of the Commonwealth. But man they made her look like Barbra Corcoran from Shark Tank

I haven't seen episode 10 yet, but I have a really hard time seeing Daryl fitting in with the Commonwealth.

If anything, I'd think they would give him Dwight's arc from the comics, much like they gave Michonne's arc to Yumiko.

I know you keep it spoiler free and thanks for that, but I watch the episodes when they're broadcast. Not sure if most of us here are the same. I guess what I'm saying, if it's not too much to ask, it's to hold off on the discussion of next week's episodes till they air.

Now if most of us here are watching on AMC+, then I'll bow to the majority and take back my request.

Disagree. Unless the people that don't have AMC + also wait a week after they see it to be allowed to talk about it too lol.

If stuff is in spoiler boxes that's pretty easy for you to avoid. Conversely, expecting people to wait a week after they see something to be allowed to talk about it is a little over reaching isn't it? Would you remember what you wanted to talk about from last week's episode when Sunday hits this week? Probably not.

Re: The Walking Dead (AMC) -- The Final Season Trilogy -- Premieres 8/22/21 & 2022

I think the solution could be separate episode threads, even though this show hasn’t been popular enough to warrant them for years, I can tell you I’ve stayed out of this thread for the most part because of AMC+. I’m probably not the only one. Just as those with AMC+ don’t want to wait a week, those without It don’t want to wade through spoiler tags and still potentially see a spoiler anyway.
