The point was Loki was never supposed to escape using the Tesseract. The Avengers and Steve all did what they were supposed to.

Based on pilots, I'd put this in the middle. WandaVision definitely grabbed me quicker, but this has a lot of potential. I loved all the Infinity Stones used as paperweights!

See, I felt like this was easily the best first episode of any of the 3 Marvel D+ series thus far.

Just watched Ep1 a second time. This was a great start to a series. It feels like a real mind bender how the TVA works and how small the events of what we've been watching over the past decade really are. There is that sobering moment where Loki realizes his ability to go back to his timeliness is over and his future lies with the TVA or trying to destroy it/control it, whatever. Makes me think the Multiverse movie with Dr Strange is going to be awesome.

I thought by pushing around Loki they did a great job setting up a world more powerful than Endgame. The TMA treats the high stakes of Endgame like it was just another day.
After the last two shows didn’t have any big reveals, I won’t expect this one to. But it would be fun if something big happens.

Wait, there's a concern that after a bunch of little movies led to some big movies that the next bunch of little movies leading to some big movies may have big movies with bigger stakes than the other big movies?! People do know how things like sequels and franchises and stories work, right?

I can't help but compare the Time Variance Authority in this show to The Commission from The Umbrella Academy. The organizations play similar roles and their headquarters both have an aggressively retro aesthetic to them. The Commission has a little steampunk vibe mixed in, too. The TVA appears to be a much larger, perhaps more powerful outfit. The Commission was corrupted, it'll be interesting to see if a similar problem will be revealed in the TVA.

I liked this a lot. The Thor, Guardians, Captain Marvel and Dr Strange universes have always been an uneasy mix with Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Spider-man and (mostly) the Ant-man universes. Black Panther is sort of a mix. So I don't feel like this makes the previous films feel any less relevant than the former did to the latter.
I'm glad Owen Wilson got to keep his little whispered side compliments.

Watched it again last night and liked it even more. People have been suggesting that Mephisto was hinted at in the stained glass window but I think it was just Loki wearing his horned helmet.

Liked it but didn’t quite love it to be perfectly honest. It feels like it may need a couple episodes or so to find it’s groove like WandaVision to me.
I think I expected more after reading so many positive reviews for it. Still a decent start and Tom Hiddleston is fun to watch.

The Avengers made a conscious decision to go back in time and remove the Infinity Stones from history to change the "future" (their present). The think that returning the stones will prevent any changes to the timeline, which in theory sounds good, but the events in New York and on Morad definitely affected the timeline no matter if the stones are returned. The events surrounding the apprehension of Loki are the most obvious, but when 2012 Cap wakes up he will definitely know something was up, even though the Sceptre should be right next to him. And in the events in Winter Soldier, Rumlow will think Cap is an ally (Hail Hydra!). And of course the whole mess with 2014 Thanos traveling to the future and dying definitely messes with the timeline.
Loki saw an opportunity and ran with it. He suspected time travel shenanigans, but he didn't plan any of these events.
I suppose the Time Keepers saw that in the end the timeline accepted the changes the Avengers made without consequences, while Loki will do something horrible if he is allowed to continue without their interference.
I also have a crazy theory I'm putting together that when "Old Steve" who gave the shield to Sam, it was actually Loki fixing Cap's time travel mess.

I sorta get it but still have questions.

Re: Loki (S1E01) -- "Glorious Purpose" -- 6/9/21
I'm seeing the Loki stuff as something that doesn't have a logic to it. The Timekeepers are fine with the Avengers actions because the powers that be "wanted it," and they didn't "want" Loki to do what he did. I'm not sure there will be any rhyme or reason to it beyond that.
