re: SNL General Discussion Thread
I know everyone wants to shit on this guy and what has become of his career, and I have comment on whatever his current "comedy" is, but people are willing to pay him $50K for a one hour set, so I guess he is laughing all the way to the bank, as they say.

Sandler got him a lot of movie roles and he did have a brief run of success being the lead in the Deuce Bigalow and other movies in the late 90's to the early aughts.

He's a conspiracy theorist and a vehement anti-vaxxer. Fuck him.

He can only earn that much if someone is willing to pay him. And it sounds like the Repubs won't want him again. So, who'd be willing to hire him now?

It's one thing to start having right wing political leanings and pal around on the Hannity show, it's quite another to show up to testify in the California legislature against school vaccine mandates like Schneider did.

Look, I'm not a fan, but the tone of "look how far this guy has fallen" strikes me as odd when the story is revealing that he is doing these high-paying corporate gigs.

Politics aside, Rob Schneider has never been funny... not sure what corporations are hiring him, but I'd question the Executive team who thinks he's a good choice.

I think Dennis Miller has changed hi spolitical views and might not be a Trump guy and I heard he does not appear on Hannity anymore.
I liked his HBO show since he went after both parties which you should do
Mod Edit: There are other ways to say what you're trying to say.

Mod Note: This thread has walked the political line the last few days and is starting to dip over. Please watch it. Someone is always welcome to start a "celebrities and their politics" thread in Politics.

Yeah, everyone knows SNL stays away from politics.

I hear you, I do.
On the other hand, I edited a comment that was an outright political statement that has nothing to do with the show. One could argue discussing former cast members' politics has little to do with the topic of the thread. Either way, this isn't SNL, and this isn't the forum for politics.

I agree with you, story. And the comment you edited was especially moronic.
As I said, SNL cast members are entitled to have their own political leanings.
But when they start showing up at state legislatures, arguing against mandatory school vaccine policies, then they have crossed the line and no longer discussing politics. At that point they are willfully endangering public health, just like if they were driving drunk.

Honestly I wish SNL in general would move a little off the politics. Nothing to do with the politics themselves, I just find it extremely repetitive at this point.

The hosts and musical guests for the final two SNL shows of the season have been announced.
Looks like a good lineup.

Looks like a good lineup.
“Saturday Night Live” has set Maya Rudolph to host its May 11 episode alongside Vampire Weekend as musical guest, while the May 18 episode will by headlined by Jake Gyllenhaal with performances from Sabrina Carpenter.
Rudolph was an “SNL” cast member for seven seasons from 2000 to 2007 and returns to the late-night sketch show for her third time as host, having previously hosted in 2012 with musical guest Sleigh Bells and in 2021 alongside Jack Harlow.
Gyllenhaal will host the “SNL” Season 49 finale as a third-time host, having previously led episodes in 2007 with the Shins as musical guest and in 2022 opposite Camila Cabello.

Another year without The Linda Lindas appearing as MG. I guess they're too small time and obscure to be on a big show like SNL. I mean, whoever even heard of the bands they're playing with this summer? Green something. Smashing Jack-O-Lanterns I think. Rotating Stones. Bunch nobodies, am I right?

You do realize that The Linda Lindas have never had a hit song . . . or been nominated for a major industry award . . . or been on the cover of a major music magazine.
You've been watching SNL for a long time. You still have no idea how they choose their MGs?
