So of course Amy Sedaris' astromech droid is R5-D4. Was that supposed to be her character at the end of Rise of Skywalker?

Disney trying to steal some thunder from Dune's sandworms?

DIdn't the Krayt dragon skeleton in ANH appear to be a lot smaller than the one seen here?

Re: The Mandalorian: Chapter 9: The Marshal (S2E1) - 10/30/20

My quick thoughts:

- I also wondered how the Dune people must feel about this episode stealing some of their sand worm thunder.
- This episode had enough spectacle I wish I could have seen it on a theatre screen. I'm trying to imagine Disney putting out a weekly theatrical experience, similar to the old Saturday morning serial matinees, they can have a couple of their cartoons, a documentary short about NASA or National Geographic stuff, then the latest chapter of The Mandalorian.
- I thought the best thing about season one was
Spoiler:
that it wasn't about Boba Fett. Now it looks like they're putting Boba Fett into the show Maybe that last shot was a fake-out, taking advantage of people's knowledge of the actor, and that will be a different character, but somehow I doubt that

Wait, we know that is Fett's armor but...

Spoiler:
do we know that was Fett at the end? I thought I read that Captain Rex might show up this season too....there are a lot of options for that actor.

It has been indicated in the entertainment reports that he was cast as
Spoiler:
as Boba Fett

Credit to Rebel Force Radio for bringing this up last night last night, but it appears that
Spoiler:
Boba Fett was wearing Tusken robes and holding Tusken weapons in the end shot. He was there all along, living among them. Maybe he left a tracker in his suit and will go after Mando.

I thought it was pretty clear who he was meant to be considering the context of the episode. I hope it wasn’t just a cameo and that he becomes a part of the larger story, but I wouldn’t be shocked if it was just an Easter egg.

The episode was just okay. I liked the bits with the dragon in it, but the episode itself could’ve been 10 minutes shorter. Caught myself checking my phone a couple times.

Wondering if Olyphant’s speeder bike was a modified pod racer engine.

Re: The Mandalorian: Chapter 9: The Marshal (S2E1) - 10/30/20

Excellent first episode. Olyphant wearing Boba Fett's armor and teaming up with Mando to hunt a krayt dragon? More than I could have asked for!

My knowledge of krayt dragons comes from the old KOTOR video game, where it was portrayed as more of an "above ground" creature, more like a giant Komodo dragon with horns (see image in spoiler below). This one definitely reminded me of Dune. But it was cool they added a shot of the Tuskens finding the dragon's pearl in its corpse at the end.

Spoiler:

ETA: Just checked Wookiepedia and apparently the KOTOR version is a "canyon krayt" and the one in this episode is a different subspecies, the "greater krayt".

I didn't realize the bartender was W. Earl Brown. His voice sounded familiar but I couldn't place it

Damn, didn’t notice that or Leguizamo’s voice. Hope the door is still open to Leguizamo appearing as his human self - he’d fit into the universe that way too.

The Jango Fett clones have accelerated aging, and Boba is the only one that ages normally. Rex is old with gray hair by this point in the story.

Yeah, in the Mandalorian era, Boba Fett should be about forty years old. With the Clones' accelerated aging, Rex and the other Clone Troopers would appear to be about twice that, around eighty.

I loved the partnering of Mando and the Marshal. Very similar to Kevin Bacon/Fred Ward and Cleavon Little/Gene Wilder in their respective movies.

Great start to the new season. I think I figured out why I like this show so much, these stories are like the shit that me and my friend would make up when we were ten years old, playing with our Star Wars figures. "Hey, what if these guys teamed up with a bunch of Tusken Raiders and they all fight a huge Krayt Dragon! And oh yeah, Boba Fett never died, he's still alive and somebody stole his armor!"

Holy shit! I thought the bartender sounded like Dan, but didn't bother to hunt the tiny credit type to see if W. Earl Brown was credited anywhere.

While I appreciate the little Deadwood reunion, it's kind of a bummer such a great actor is stuck doing a sucky bit part covered in 20 hours worth of make-up.

Obviously Morrison is quite a bit older than 40 but Fett had also been in the Sarlacc for a period of time which couldn't have been good. Tatooine in general seems to age people quicker like the Lars family and Kenobi.

Fantastic season opener. Had everything. So much nostalgia with Tatooine, the Tuscan raiders, Jawas, Sarlaac pit, the image of Death Star blowing up. So good and what a way to start. Love Olyphant. He is just the epitome of cool in his perfect Raylan Givens way. I doubt, but really really hope we see more of him. Anyone know if we will? That last encounter with Mando and Krayt dragon was amazing. Loved it!!

Are we supposed to know who guy looking on to Mando riding off is? Perhaps spy for Moff Gideon?

Either way that’s the way to open a season and that was my second fav ep behind S1, ep8. Just pure Star Wars bliss!

I just figured Jawas salvaged from Sarlacc pit, then reading the looking on actor was Jango Fett in AotC and voice of Boba, but still. Stretch? I guess would be awesome, but just hard to believe. Plus, Boba would have skills to get back armor from weak Jawas, no? I dunno...

No, he isn’t. Have you read this thread?

It was 100% Boba Fett. The entire episode was set around Olyphant owning the armor that belonged to Fett and the actor at the end is the actor that played Jango Fett.

Not to mention the casting news was reported long ago that Fett was appearing.
