I think you misunderstood my post. Of course it's an homage to After Hours, it's even in the title. My point was, you can enjoy the episode without even knowing there's a movie called After Hours, and in addition, there are a lot of other cultural references one might notice and appreciate.

Also an interesting in universe call back to the argument the team had about Scorsese's best movie.

This was the first episode that was a complete miss for me. I loved the Christmas episode but this one was borderline unwatchable.

I own After Hours, but still haven’t watched it.
Anyway, this episode was way too long and I disliked about half of it. And I’m a film buff.
I can’t even imagine the reaction of folks who are used to regular Ted Lasso.
really dumb to have Coach Beard try to carry an episode.

This was not After Hours. That was kinda a small movie that got some cult status bc of darkness and director. This ep was dark and kind of a bizarre oddity in 2 seasons thus far, but never reminded me once of AH.

Spent some time with family that have Apple TV and ended up binging this and really enjoyed it. Then came Beard After Dark which was twice as long as some episodes yet only felt like it was ten times as long.

I know we're behind, but I have to call out the Christmas episode that we just watched.
Absolutely full of corny, schmaltzy, cliched, holiday nonsense with an utterly unbelievable subplot of hunting down a dentist on Christmas Day to fix a little girl's halitosis and a family having to deal with too many people showing up for dinner.
And I couldn't have loved it more.
No other cast of actors could have pulled that off.

It’s hilarious to me that people were complaining how there was no conflict and everything was too sweet and we’re all basically watching the main character have a nervous breakdown.

Finale was probably my least favorite from the season. I really like the chemistry between Ted and the Doc. Not a fan of Rebecca's mother. And WTF Rick Rolling the audience like 3 times.

Does anybody remember Ted speech to Rupert in season 1? Right when Ted was having a panic attack there was a flash of darts. I wonder if Ted made that up as his dad wasn’t around, or if it happened before he passed.
Neither of us are feeling this Same and Rebecca thing. Maybe it’s good on paper, but it comes off really awkward and inappropriate.

Watching the episode I told my son "Keeley looks like someone. Who is it?". And then it hit me and I yelled "Aerith" (from Final Fantasy 7). My son laughed as loud as I have ever heard, said "Oh my God, yes she does!", then asked me to pause the playback so he could take a picture. Then he sent me these pictures :

Trent Crimm of The Independent is no Woodward or Bernstein when it comes to protecting his sources.
It does set up an interesting final episode conflict but it does seem weird that Nate will go to these extraordinary lengths to get credit for the one thing we have already seen him get showered with credit for.

Nate’s identity as the source would only be protected if Nate asked for and was promised anonymity. Seems likely Nate was not sophisticated enough insist on anonymity. Seems unlikely Trent would go out of his way to offer anonymity.

Re: Ted Lasso (Apple TV +) -- S: Jason Sudeikis -- From the creator of Scrubs
As much as I liked the start of this season and still enjoy occasional moments, it’s increasingly not working for me. The Rebecca/Sam relationship is terrible, both in what it’s done to the characters and that no one in this show’s universe recognizes it as inappropriate. It feels like a scrapped storyline from Love, Actually and just needs to go.
More and more things feel like they’re happening solely because it’s a tv show. The Roy-Keeley conflict feels totally false. Nate’s descent into assholishness works at times, but is laughable at others. The Rickrolling nonsense was terrible in execution, as well as being a solid decade off of being timely. Hopefully they pull it together for the finale and avoid some of the contrived bullshit next season.

I’m confused - people complaining because there isn’t enough personal development and drama, then we get it and it’s not the right thing?!
I thought this episode was really good. You can tell Roy has a connection with the teacher, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t care for Keeley.
Also, still not a fan of Sam and Rebecca (and do agree with the comment that you’d think somebody would have said it’s not appropriate). If same is true to his character, I think he’d take the job offer.
Still not a fan of Nate at all. I honestly think if it weren’t for the spitting, it would come off better. If he slapped himself or broke something it would be less offensive. I hope they win, Ted gives him credit, and then fires him. If they just have it be an aww shucks teachable moment then it misses the mark in my opinion.
Loved the Good Will Hunting reference with the doc in the bar.
