Wife and I resubscribed to Paramount + on Jan. 1 to watch this and ST: Discovery season 4. So far, we are definitely satisfied with both and glad for where both series are going.

What a great episode, probably the best Trek we’ve gotten in a long time.

It took a child to be the first person to beat the Kobayashi Maru honestly, and he’s not even a member of Starfleet.

And I almost forgot, he’s an addict now. On a kids show.

Re: Star Trek: Prodigy -- Nickelodeon animated series coming in 2021

Binged through eps 4-6 tonight and that last one was a whopper. It could have come across as cheesy but I read some interviews with the writer who said he watched 40-50 episodes to get the dialogue he needed. And then they brought back Gates!

And it was very touching to see Scotty back in action one more time.

Despite its limitations for being on Nick, they’re making an effort to keep this in universe as best as possible and I’m loving the extra lore we’re getting.

● Season one of fellow animated series Star Trek: Prodigy returned on Thursday, Jan. 6 with episode six. The remaining four episodes of season one’s first half will be available to stream weekly on Thursdays, with episode 10 available to stream on Thursday, Feb. 3. The additional 10-episode-long second half of season one will be available on Paramount+ later in 2022.

I figured what the hell I will give this a shot. It is pretty good. Very obviously geared toward kids, but they have some adult stuff in it. The Kobayashi episode is one of the best ST episodes in a long time.

If Dal was brought up on a Ferengi ship shouldn’t he have known what a transporter is?

Am I the only one watching this? It's Trek, canon, and it's good- I'm actually enjoying Prodigy more than Discovery this season.

Got caught up. This is a lot of fun but still feels a bit leashed from being a kid’s show.

Still, it’s fun to see Janeway again and it looks like they’ve got an interesting story arc building.

Its hard to see how kids would even grasp the concept of the Time Amok episode, plus they all pretty much died. Some of the topics they’re dealing with is pretty heavy for a kid’s show.

I highly encourage everyone to listen to the Greatest Discovery Podcast. They cover each new episodes of all the new Trek series, it’s well produced and a lot of fun.

"Hey look, a kids Star Trek show"

It's pretty good though.

They've introduced some pretty interesting concepts so far like the proto-drive and the vehicle replicator. All which can turn up in other Trek shows now.

That was great. A lot of big concepts this episode I think young kids will have trouble with.

The Federation clearly fucked up again. They didn’t get the long term repercussions right with The Diviner’s planet before they made first contact, so his actions weren’t totally unjustified.

Re: Star Trek: Prodigy -- Nickelodeon animated series coming in 2021

Another thought. On Discovery they act like 1,000 years later and they still didn't have much better warp drives etc... yet they do have something like this long before that not counting the spore drive. A lot of the tech on Discovery feels like it could be within a hundred years of Voyager. It's cool and more advanced just not as much as one would think. Also can't use the burn as a reason as that was still 800 plus years later.

At this point, Discovery could still be another timeline. Jumping that far head blocks off other stuff or even Picards time to some degree. There is also almost 1000 years of history not talked about yet.

Yes, a little rushed by the format but still a lot of cool stuff happening.

I’m thinking Rok was alone for several months of not longer, since she can do high level math and engineering now. I hope it didn’t scar her mentally but the Holo-Janeway would have been there to help.

If you noticed the hash marks on the wall it seems like it was over a year, or even years.

Don’t people usually do hash marks on the wall by day? I’m going to have to rewatch it.

Yes. If I'm not mistaken there were hundreds of hash marks. Could be wrong.

There were a LOT of hash marks on the wall. Janeway said that Rok was alone too long.

We don't know how her race ages so it's quite possible she was alone for years and still be a child.

It was long enough for Rok to become a talented Engineer. But hey, maybe her people learn quick?
