And we have learned that Captain Janeway returns as.... the Emergency Training Hologram.

I'm actually onboard with this. It's a way to get the character of Janeway back, in the role she was best known for and still maintain continuity with her aging (she is human, no big deal). I just still take issue with the look of the alien crew - at least one of them should have been a recognizable Star Trek alien.

To be honest the trailer doesn’t look as bad as I expected. Looks okay for a show made for kids. I still don’t get much of a Star Trek vibe though aside from the ship.

It was what one would expect from a kid's show. The dialogue, action, jokes, etc all on that kid level. I only say that because it seems many assumed Lower Decks would be a kids show but were clutching pearls when adult stuff showed up.

That said, the ship and look of the show looks great; and I'm curious to see how Janeway takes care of and trains these characters. There is a weird Star Wars vibe to this that was mentioned before that is very much there. I think it has to do with a lot of character design styles and the grittiness of the 1st two eps compared to typical pristine Federation Ship settings.

Luke looked a little odd. Princess Leia was cool, and it was kind of neat seeing General Grievous and the Emperor again. Wait, what show am I watching?

Yeah, this show is definitely more Wars than Trek, but it was still pretty fun. We saw races we haven’t seen in a long time, some we’ve never seen and even a few from Lower Decks. The ship design was great, and the overall look of the animation was really impressive. One of the best looking CG series (not a movie) I’ve seen.

Yeah, that's pretty much my reaction as well. It was good, but not something I would watch if it wasn't Trek-related. I'll continue for now but this might not be up my alley.

The latest ep is ep 2 but I guess it's technically ep 3 since 1 and 2 were put together into a longer ep. Anyway, it was good. Lots more Hologram Janeway...and... her fuckin' cup of coffee. people were actually bitching online about the Hologram not having Janeway's signature cup of coffee in the premiere ep(s). Today's Fandoms...

They really let Janeway explain The Federation in a way that I believe would hook anyone in.

Watched the opening two-parter last night with the family. Definitely geared towards a younger set, but not dumbed down. The Protostar is a gorgeous ship and I'm glad they included two legacy alien species (Tellarite and Medusan).

This show is a lot of fun, especially when you consider it's canon.

If people have been following the show, it appears in this week's episode we learn that the USS Protostar is the fastest warp capable ship in Starfleet to date, and quite possibly ever (not taking into account the USS Discovery's spore drive, which is separate from its warp drive).

Is it bad I like this show more than Discovery?

I was nosing around, and it looks like they're pulling Prodigy from the schedule while Discovery season 4 is on, then bringing it back for a few weeks when Disco ends, then pulling it again for Picard season 2, and then bringing it back later in the year?

Also looks like season one is going to be twenty episodes. I thought it was just ten.

Love the Janeway holo trying to solve an issue by wondering out loud what the human Janeway would have done. I got goosebumps.

Not only that, it appears that, as in Voyager itself, the Protostar’s computer (which is also an AI) sees the Janeway holo as a separate entity from itself. I loved how Janeway tried to command the computer to give her info on the Protostar drive by saying she was a former Starfleet captain.
