Yellowstone (Paramount) -- Season 3 Thread

The 3rd started 2 weeks ago

and ratings increased 127% from season 2.

Ratings - Paramount Network's "Yellowstone" Season Three Premiere Delivers Record Ratings and Increases +127% from Season Two | TheFutonCritic.com

I only saw the 1st episode. It was a good start. I liked the introduction of Josh Holloway.

and for those unaware, this was already renewed through season 4.

And FYI past seasons will be available on the new Peacock streaming service.

Re: Yellowstone (Paramount) -- Season 3 Thread

This annoys the hell out of me....does this Paramount channel only exist to broadcast this show? They play nothing else except from what I can tell are bad movies I'm assuming from Paramount studios.

I had to spend an extra 10 bucks a month to add this to the cable tier just so my elderly parents can watch this for the summer. They love the hell out of it.

To me it just seems like someone took all the interesting parts of 'Longmire' and made things more of a soap opera but since it looks likes its popularity is rising I guess its not going anywhere.

Why couldn't they just broadcast on NBC? Is this what our future is? Every cable channel gets 1 or 2 hit shows that force you subscribe. I thought cord cutting and the rise of streaming was going to make things better for the consumer but it seems like all we get is more fragmented ways to try to find shows.

Paramount was rebranded Spike channel. This was their "launch" show and it became a hit.

You could just buy the season for $20 thru Amazon or iTunes or something, new episodes get added after they air.

But yes, this is how cable has been for a long time, every channel with a couple shows to make the bundles more attractive.

It's the best show on cable television. Season two was a barnburner that improved on the perfectly solid season one. Yellowstone would be a monster hit on a platform like Netflix.

Re: Yellowstone (Paramount) -- Season 3 Thread

I like this show a lot but I am not exactly sure why. I don't really find any of the cowboy-ing stuff interesting. Most of the main characters are horrible people and cold blooded murderers (and sometimes arguably justified murderers), yet they are somehow less evil than the outside forces that come to threaten their ranch. Cancer becomes indigestion as a plot device. I sort of hate Rip, who I think we are supposed to like for some reason. And a killing spree is covered up by
Spoiler:
someone resigning and then just appointing their son

Now Montana is beautiful and it is one of the best looking shows on TV, but it should be pretty awful. And nary a single boobie since season 1Yet for some reason I eagerly look forward to watching this show each weekend like it's event TV. I am frankly ashamed of my taste in TV

What!? Rip is like the heart of the show. He's the one guy that would like nothing more than to play cowboy but he's extremely loyal to the Duttons for taking him in. It will be interesting to see if they go with a love triangle involving Beth and the new developer. I could see Beth sleeping with the developer for business purposes, hoping to mislead him.

This week's episode was a miss for me. Jimmy gets a date, immediately injured. Come on. And The Governor need to talk to Dutton but no he doesn't have time. Just too many cliches in this ep.

Monica has nothing to do so far. Beth has been nurtured now that she's with Rip. The women of the show just haven't been given much this season.

And 3 eps camping?

I did like how Jamie handled his problem tho.

Taylor Sheridan says they are going to start filming season 4 around August.

It's going to be mostly shot on the ranch in Montana or around it.

I love this show. Sounds like they're going to do six seasons and say goodbye...that seems about right. I don't mind some of the soap-opera (i.e., implausible) elements to the series...I just enjoy the fun ride and the great acting.

They went way overboard on that girl hitting on Jimmy out of nowhere. I pretty much knew then he was going down in the rodeo. It sounded like he might be paralyzed. They made sure an audible crack/snap was heard when he fell.

OMG this season

Who is this chick with Jimmy?! She can't be real. Has to be a spy or something. And Jimmy super hung too but a virgin This is getting beyond laughable.

At least they are finally packing up camp, and the stuff with the bikers was good Yellowstone. But 1/3rd of the season is over already.

Poor Monica, had some really strong stories in season 1 and 2 and now has nothing. Shame

Monica's role this season is just awful Essentially she has been relegated to the depth of a blow up sex doll at this point, just asking Kacey for sex.

This show is getting super soapy.

They should have showed the governer's body guards reaction to her just disappearing overnight.

New girlfriend chick is interesting though I get this feeling she's like the niece of the lawyer dude or something like that.

She's probably not popular but the new girl farmhand that sexually harasses the guys all day is kinda funny.

Everybody in this show is essentially a psychopath.

This season is not growing on me. Storylines are getting weaker by the moment.

I'm sure the story will pick up steam soon but, yeah, this has been a really slow burn. It doesn't help that the main plot feels like a retread either. I'm still enjoying it overall though.

She's played by Jennifer Landon, Michael Landon's daughter. Her character's definitely not "Little House On The Prairie" material!

She was previously on "Animal Kingdom" as creepy Shawn Hatosy's love interest, -she was part of a church the family intended to rob.

I really enjoyed her portrayal on Animal Kingdom but this farmhand role feels like a bridge too far. I wish they would tone down the character a bit.

Jimmy's arc almost feels like a completely different show at this point. A hot girl he barely knows jumps on him in the hospital. I guess we are going to find out she's either broken in some way, or a spy sent to gather info on the Duttons.

Better episode tonight and Monica got part of a scene! At least we know why Beth hates Jamie now.
