Though I did not like Buffy`s development in S6+S7, I think overall she is still a better and more authentic character. Also Willow is a better character IMO. There are actually very few female TV characters, that are as good developed as Willow and Buffy. And they should have developed Giles more in the later Seasons.

I just finished rewatching Buffy with my son and we're on season 5 of Angel now. I have a hard time choosing. A lot of characters have some great arcs mixed in with some truly cringeworthy moments. I love Spike's arc, even though much of season 4 and 5 he's still evil, just neutered. Love Faith's arc. Love Wesley's arc. Giles was always one of my faves, except in season 7 when he loses faith in Buffy. Buffy herself has her ups and downs. Xander is so relatable, though I never really liked him and Anya together. And he's pretty pathetic in seasons 6 and 7. Love Willow, though her addiction storyline gets a bit heavy handed in season 6. She and Tara were great together. I think Faith and Spike are my favorites. Especially Spike's season 7/Angel season 5 stuff.

Having rewatched some Friends a couple months ago and now rewatching Buffy, I don't think Xander and Chandler could be any more the same guy (except for Bing being a coward, of course).

I voted for Spike 3 years ago, and I probably still stand by it. If we include ANGEL, I always loved the Wesley arc and Fred relationship. And yeah, I love Faith too.

I always wonder where Whedon would have gone with his planned Faith/Spike buddy show. Recent Hollywood history would have been vastly different - no Firefly and his work on the Avengers may have never happened.
