NBC has pulled a flu pandemic episode of New Amsterdam that was supposed to air on April 7th. Will air at a later date.

Daniel Dae Kim, who caught Covid-19 was on the episode.

I've never really understood channels pulling fictional television episodes for something happening in real life. You can bet we'll see a rash of pandemic material in dramatic television in the future once this is over.

3 members of the production staff including Daniel Dae Kim got sick during the show. I think it hits too close to home.

And networks are very controversy-aversed. If there's any chance of anyone getting offended because of something that looks like network greed, it's going to be pulled. This isn't like a movie where the director has some degree of artistic freedom.

A bunch of reality competition shows had to shut down production like The Voice, American Idol, So you think you can Dance, America's Got Talent, MasterChef and more.

It's looking dicey if they can continue airing. American Idol is on right now and they are going to run out of taped shows in a few days and can't do the live shows.

The Voice is also going to run out of taped shows by April.

America's Got Talent shut down during the audition shows.

This summer is looking dicey for a lot of these shows.

I’m curious about Big Brother. It seems like it would be fine considering “shelter in place” is the whole theme. But would we want to watch people doing what we just went through?

Grey's Anatomy officially cancelled production for remainder of the season. They were 4 episodes short of finishing their order.

https://deadline.com/2020/03/greys-a...19-1202894425/

So it's doubtful that any show resumes production.

This is going to be a problem for Supernatural. They have 2 episodes to finish and then they are done for good. But, Jared has to shoot Walker Texas Ranger for the Fall and that will film in Austin. My guess is that when things resume, Walker will be delayed so Jared can finish Supernatural. What also sucks is that Supernatural aired it's final episode for the time being on Monday with 5 episodes left in the can that need post production still and 2 unshot episodes. We could possibly see a 2nd part of this season extend into late Summer or Fall.

Mark Blum died from coronavirus. He was 69. He did movies and TV, but most of his recent work was TV. Including the Netflix show "You"

I think they will delay Supernatural until October and air the final 7 as they would the first half of a full season.

With a lot of shows not filming any more episodes and finishing early why doesn't CBS get Big Brother started earlier than normal this season?

Because you cannot put a large group of people together. Everything has been shut down, even reality shows.

Well if everyone is tested and and medically cleared it would seem possible.

The show is shot in Los Angeles and the Mayor has ordered all non-essential businesses, which include entertainment productions to shut down and he's ordered social distancing.

The Producers of the show aren't going to risk infections and lawsuits for a reality show.

The house guests would be isolated enough, and if they were tested before they went into the BB house, they should be safe.

However there still a lot of people working on the show around the clock who have to go on-site to the house. Not to mention that the house guests would still have to audition and travel to CA, and they'd need to kept in quarantine before they were put in the house, and in that time they're going to interact with producers and PAs.

And it could get really messy if someone in the house got sick somehow (from groceries they bring in, or someone working on the show).

I don't think it's Covid19-related, but Turner Classic Movies has just a fantastic slate of films this month, great if you're stuck at home. Yesterday was a celebration of Toshiro Mifune, so it was nothing but Kurosawa classics all day. For Sunday night's "Import" series, they're running the Hawk and Chick Lone Wolf and Cub series. Thursdays are all about NYC in the 70s, so a bunch of great crime films set in gritty 70s NYC. I just managed to clear a lot of space on my DVR, looks like I'm filling it right back up again. But at least I have time to watch.

Was another season of Survivor shot before this shutdown? I think the current season was shot over a year ago.

All reality shows will shut down, as they involve a lot of production staff and crew (even if you never see them).

The only things that could possibly stay in production would be animation, because that can probably all be done via computer and wouldn't need anyone to leave their homes. Actors could record their voices at home, the animators could work from home, etc.
