S.W.A.T. on CBS is expected to be the first network TV show to resume production. They resume filming on Tuesday. I'm guessing no Fall premieres until November at the absolute earliest. |

Not that anyone here watches, General Hospital already resumed production with new shows starting this coming Monday.

The CW has been using UK and Canada series to fill out their line-up this summer. Last Sunday they aired "Taskmaster", a British Reality show in its 8th season. It got a .01 rating in the key demo, so it's been dropped and replaced with "Supernatural" re-reruns. I myself tuned into that first episode out of curiosity and tuned out after five minutes.

So I guess we're not going to be getting many holiday themed episodes this season. For whatever shows that are coming back, they might not have schedules locked down far enough advance to plan holiday episodes to air at the appropriate times. The Connors might be able to do a Halloween episode since they started shooting already. Not sure if they will premiere by then. Thanksgiving and Christmas episodes might be out the window too. It's probably a good thing that Modern Family ended last season. Didn't they do a lot of holiday episodes usually?

The Challenge is currently shooting in Iceland. They started shooting at the beginning of September.

It took nearly two years to get the one we are getting. I kind of figure it might be the last one because of the show's international scope and let's-keep-moving pace. The added expenses might be the final nail in the coffin. Fortunately, Phil Keoghan has another series.

I don't think they will able to film any more TAR until COVID-19 is fully gone.
Too much international travel, contact with foreigners, moving around, waiting around, cab rides, plane flights, yadda yadda yadda. Even when we get a vaccine, it will probably be years before we reach global herd immunity. Will they want to wait four or more years to film new seasons? Or just quietly shelve the whole series? I guess they've been sitting on the upcoming season for two years, so it's possible they might start up again when they can. |

(The Unicorn, which had a 13-episode initial order, will remain at 13). The network is still in conversations with outside studios, including Mom, Young Sheldon, Bob Hearts Abishola, B Positive and All Rise producer Warner Bros TV; Universal TV, which is behind the FBI franchise; and S.W.A.T.‘s Sony Pictures TV. Those series also are expected to end up producing seasons in the 16- to 18-episode range. |

Not surprising, but also not good news. The vast majority of LA based TV and movie productions are going to take an extended production hiatuses in January due to the continuing COVID-19 problems in California. One prime example is Shermar Moore, the lead of SWAT, was recently diagnosed with COVID. They are currently on a production hiatus. |

I was just wondering if there are still any shows that still exist in a world where the pandemic is still happening? I think every show that I watch that had Covid storylines have now completely dropped them. The Good Doctor, Grey's Anatomy, This is Us, The Conners, 9-1-1. All these show showed people wearing masks and such when they started back up, but I think they've all completely dropped showing that. Some are supposed to now take place "after the pandemic". This is Us is supposed to be real time though and no mention of it any more. I guess it's easier not to deal with it, or it's not something people want to see on TV still.

We'll see next season with The Morning Show. Most people do watch TV as an escape and probably don't want to be reminded that things are shit right now.
