The production of Ellen's show was at Warner Bros and syndicated. It's connection to NBC was just that a lot of NBC stations carried the show.

The Kelly Clarkson Show is produced by NBC Universal, but is also syndicated and not an NBC network show.

The new Jennifer Hudson show is the Ellen "replacement." It is produced by the same team that produced Ellen at WB, but looks like it is going to a lot of FOX channels.

Re: The Drew Barrymore Show --- Daytime Talk Show

I guess the days of airing blocks of Tic-Tac-Dough, Concentration, Scrabble, or Card Sharks followed by Godzilla movies or sitcom reruns is long over. My local station is running Dateline reruns at 1. More and more of the channels are filling their lineup with "local" news which is just segments recycled from the day before mixed in with cooking and weather. Seems odd to me that Ellen could be a huge success but not Drew who comes across more personable.

When I check the Directv app that shows what everybody is watching it is usually CNN, MSNBC, and FOX News programming so maybe not a shock everybody wants to program news shows.

NBC will air NBC News Daily in place of Days of Our Lives starting next week.

Ok - so two questions here

Is this available someday/next on a Streamer?

I see it starts up again next week but still has the 43 minute runtime. Is that just an error?

I could've sworn it was on PlutoTV or Roku or one of those, with ads, but if it was it isn't anymore.

I think the 30-minute episodes is an interesting idea, worth trying.

It can be cheaper to produce a local show than it is to pay someone to play their syndicated show. And the ratings can be better with a local show too.

These are almost always strictly financial decisions.

I see here in Austin, they are going with 30 minutes of Drew, followed by the show iCrime with Elizabeth Vargas.

Feel like if Drew can't make it here in Austin, she must struggle plenty elsewhere.

And most importantly, the station gets to keep a much greater percentage of the ad money.

Re: The Drew Barrymore Show --- Daytime Talk Show

It airs on KPIX CBS 5 at 9:30am and then 3am and 3:30am on CW 44 in the Bay Area

That format and time slot is going to work?

Again, it's plugging holes in their schedule. It probably does make more money for them in those slots than whatever the alternative is.

More local programming also means more sponsored content.

Don't forget it's on the KPIX DABL subchannel at midnight/12:30am too

Too bad, I'd rather watch Let's Make A Deal at 9am instead

Well of course - that's how these shows are financed. I've spent 15 years working on a local show that includes about 40% sponsored content. It's how the business works and we're pretty transparent about it. You can get into big trouble if you aren't.

One thing about the format change is that the show starts Drew's News a whole lot quicker.
That's pretty much the only segment of her show I watch

Question --- Does the station IDs on the Drew's News wall clock board behind Ross rotate
among the stations that air the show? I remember one day I saw KPIX on the wall...Cool!

Re: The Drew Barrymore Show --- Daytime Talk Show

She is getting a lot of praise for the interview she did with Brooke Shields.

I watched the episode with Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler and it did not feel like a interview and like they were hanging out and real people though she is probably friends with a lot of people in Hollywood.

Re: The Drew Barrymore Show --- Daytime Talk Show

^ I watched 2 second of that clip. Holy shit! Why is Drew sitting so close to Brooke?! I would have to a tough time being interviewed with someone invading my personal space like that!

I also sort of have a problem with Brooke Shields writing a tell-all book and going on tour to promote that book then making a tell-all documentary and then going on tour to promote that documentary and then saying “I didn’t want to bring all that back up” when the director of The Blue Lagoon reached out to talk to her. I know she’s week within her rights to tell him to fuck off but it doesn’t feel quite right to me.

Maybe she thinks it makes it more personal or that is just her style.

She is bringing out all the dirt to sell her new book.
