I know most of you here don't really like this show, but I thought episode 7 tonight was one of the best ones of the season.

I really liked the backstory of Huck and her military background. And we saw how she fucked herself over by killing her entire unit for attempting to murder those civilians. I thought her backstory was pretty compelling.

Regarding the cliffhanger ending.....was that Tony (Scott Adsit) who got his face beaten to a pulp? I'm pretty sure it was. And Percy was nowhere to be found.

It was Tony. I imagine Percy is dead as well but we will see. I completely understand not liking this show but the reality is that The Walking Dead universe is all about its characters. If you can't get into the characters, the show has very little to offer. That's why the shows suffer when the weaker characters are the primary focus of an episode. I'm actually enjoying the show even if its moving at a glacial pace.

How old is Judith supposed to be on the current season of the Walking Dead? She seems like she is 11 or 12 which would put TWD at 12 to 13 years after the start of the zombie apocalypse.

The cliffhanger makes it look like Silas murdered Tony. But it is possible that tony died from a heart attack or some other incident and became a walker and then Silas killed the walker by bashing his head in. There may not be a way of telling a dead person from a recently turned walker when their heads/faces are bashed in.

That whole final sequence was eye-rollingly bad. The faux museum set-up, the girl falling asleep, going to find d-bag grifter guy, and then finding the bashed in face.

And then catatonic big guy who we're all supposed to believe went on a drunken berserker rage and killed the nice older guy instead of the d-bag he's jealous of. I assume it's a total ruse for the audience, but i'm sure the explanation will not be satisfying.

The sneak preview of the next episode seems to suggest that the kid doesn't remember anything of what happened because he was drunk at the time. I'm thinking that they are intentionally implying that he is the killer, but by the end it he will end up being the here that saved someone from the walker. The fact that his face was smashed in will make it a mystery because none of the characters would have had any reason to believe that he had turned and would have that he was murdered by having his face mashed up.

AMC+ posted the 2 hour season finale tonight. I binged 8 through 10 tonight. Some interesting backstory like Silas' background with an abusive father and then we also learn of Felix's past relationship.

Overall it was an interesting 2 hours. We learn more about Huck and who she is working with. That plot point is ultimately part of the cliffhanger going into the final season. The 3 ring group also becomes important again as well.

They have promised that this show will segue into the long promised Rick movie. So I'm curious if we will see a cameo from Lincoln next season.

The season started out a little rough, but I think the 2nd half made it more interesting.

Re: The Walking Dead: World Beyond — another Walking Dead spinoff

I just watched the last two episodes last night....

The part of the plot I don't get is that they wanted to take the one girl (the asset) for the Campus Community to the community where her dad was at. So instead of just flying her there in their helicopter they give her a map and other clues for her to get there for herself. If she was such an asset why would the not just take her in the helicopter from the begining? Why put her at extreme risk making her travel on foot with a bunch of untrained kids to get there? The codebook made no sense either. Huck managed to sneak off to visit the leader at least once so she could have relayed much better messages to her verbally in person rather than writing one word messages for Huck to figure out.

The explanation given was that she needed to see the world so she'd understand why she's important but I think the real reason is that it would have been more difficult to separate her from Iris. She probably wouldn't voluntarily go and if she did, she would probably make demands.

Re: The Walking Dead: World Beyond — another Walking Dead spinoff

I know no one here (or anywhere) really watched this. But the series finale had a tacked on scene that seems like it will impact the franchise going forward.

In The Walking Dead's CDC episode in season one, the doctor had a few lines about how France lasted the longest and kept working after everyone else had lost power. And that they felt like they had been close to some promising science. Well the tacked on scene in World Beyond's finale...
Spoiler:
...had a random person looking at old hard drives of that doctor from the CDC. As the scene progresses she is interrupted while watching by a man with a gun. The scene is in French with subtitles and it appears to be some over run lab in France. She explains she went back to look for clues because they were so close years ago. The hard drive footage of the doctor is talking about how they haven't seen the same mutations that France is experiencing. After a heated exchange the man shoots her. And walks out, locking her into a containment unit / security door for the lab.

When she turns, she's not a regular walker. She is a super fast and aggressive walker. She runs into a door and starts banging on it. So it appears that the France mutation has caused their walkers to be able run and possibly have more strength. And I would assume this is going to be a large story beat for how they change and evolve the franchise for the Rick Grimes movies.

World Beyond also had some quick lines from Jadis about how she got Rick saved and sent far away to avoid the leader of the CRM. World Beyond ends with that leader imprisoned. Jadis is like the head of their military with a lot of power. The series it's self was a total waste. Even if it was just back story for a few characters that may appear in the films with Rick, that 5 minute scene at the end is really the only story advancement and purpose of the whole series.

Spoiler:
I watched it this morning. The post credit scene seems to imply that she was involved with creating the zombie virus to begin with and the other scientists were aware of a way to "put an end to it". She changed to a walker really quick. She seemed to have some sort of awareness after she turned. She walked directly to the door the killer exited from and started banging on it the same way a normal person would that was being locked in. I was listening to her zombie growl and it almost sounded like she was saying "Open the door". She was French but she would know how to speak English since she was listening to the American scientist from the video messages.
