I half expected to hear Paula Cole’s “I Don’t Want to Wait” playing over that trailer.

I’ll hold out for reviews but I’m not super excited for this. I’ve ended up abandoning the other Walking Dead shows, I’m not expecting much from this one. The indication of a 2 season limited series may get me to watch though.

Ten years? Just kill those fucking zombies already.

I would literally just have a workforce slaying zombies 8 hours a day.

The planet would be pretty freaking sweet with only a million or two people left. Make a show about that. Wouldn't even need to be violent.

Yeah since at a certain point the zombies effectively cease reproducing if survivors made a concerted effort after not long their biggest issue would be finding enough zombies to make their quota. A hundred people could exterminate over 2 million zombies in 10 years by each killing one per hour without working weekends. That's 100 people clearing out a city the size of Houston by swinging a bat or jabbing a sharp stick eight times a day, five days a week.

Going into this, I'm fully expecting a shock season ender that features Rick Grimes for a a couple of seconds...

A guy walks into an office to give "The President" some news. We only see the back of the President's head, while he's delivering the news. Then they show the President, and it's Rick Grimes, and he says "Then we have some work to do."

Anyone know what “year” this takes place in? Is Rick Grimes even “gone”?

If it is 10 years since the start of the zombie apocalypse that puts the timeline right around the current timeline in TWD. There was a 6 year jump right after Rick left.

https://walkingdead.fandom.com/wiki/..._Show_Timeline

Which now that I think of it is pretty ridiculous that they show a functional society. I know our group in TWD has experienced a lot of hardship so maybe a more advanced society wouldn't be expected but that's a huge difference with what they are showing. The fact they didn't set it 20 years later tells me Rick is going to play some role in this new series. I agree with what Josh said he'll show up for two seconds at the end.

Honestly at this point I hope they throw all expectations out the window and just make this universe as wacky as possible. I gave up on ZNation after that ridiculous zombie baby scene but now I say go balls to the wall in TWD. Why not? The show is just a shell of what it used to be anyways? At least with this show I hope we see more crazy stuff. I'm tired of forced melodrama in TWD universe. Make it fun.

This reminds me of the Jason / Friday the 13th movies... they're running out of timelines; so just put this in space already and be done with it! I will not watch a series with angst-y teens who are trying to cope... I live that shit everyday with my own kids.

One of the stars of World Beyond says this series will segue into the Rick Grimes movies.

Re: The Walking Dead: World Beyond — another Walking Dead spinoff

This premieres tomorrow after the 16th episode of season 10 of the main show.

The episode is available early right now on AMC+, which you can get on Amazon Prime channels. But I'm sure the majority of you have no interest in signing up for yet another premium streaming channel.

I might try to watch it later tonight as I got AMC+ to watch Gangs of London.

I watched episode 1 yesterday. It's worse than Fear TWD ever thought about being.

Re: The Walking Dead: World Beyond — another Walking Dead spinoff

Just finished watching the early premiere. I enjoyed some parts of it. It's taking a different approach giving us this story from the eyes from these youngsters. It's something different than the main show. I know a lot of people probably will complain about it because they will say it's just a teen angst show with zombies. And I know many are completely burnt out on The Walking Dead, so it's going to get some negative feedback from people.

The flashbacks to when the sky was falling (or Monument Day) were interesting. The little reveal that:

Spoiler:

Hope killed Elton's Mom after she murdered their Mom was an interesting development, I'm sure that won't be addressed until way later.

It does appear to have a loose tie-in to the disappearance of Rick, since that 3 Ring organization is a big player here.

I'm not going to gloat and say this is the greatest new thing ever. It had elements I was interested in. I'd give the premiere a C+ The main thing that interests me is this is supposed to be the prequel that leads us to what happened to Rick and who this organization is that's holding him. And it has a definitive end date in 2021 sometime.

Wait so this is basically a one season mini-series? I thought they were hoping to turning it into another 10 season show.

Re: The Walking Dead: World Beyond — another Walking Dead spinoff

Most of the show felt like they took another show and decided to jam some zombies into it. This feels like it's set well into the future of this universe, but considering this leads to the Rick Grimes movies, I guess it's not.

it did just enough to convince me to keep watching, and knowing it's a limited series helps as well. I like Julia Ormond so I was happy to see her here. Episode 2 will probably be a better indicator of what to expect since this was mainly setup.

Thought it was mostly crap.

Felt a CW tweener thing with some zombies randomly thrown in it.

If AMC wants to franchise TWD, they're going to need to do better than this.

Maybe it will get better. I don't know. I'll probably watch a few more episodes to see if it improves.

The second episode was painful. Really, really painful. Someone needs to slap those kids. If the second episode is more indicative of what to expect, this could be tough to get through. At least it's a limited series.

What audience do they imagine this show is even supposed to appeal to? No one over the age of eleven, that's for sure. The kindest things I can say about the show is they have the pre-middle school zombie demographic all sown up and it means that FTWD is no longer the worst show they make.

Same.

These kids have grown up in this world yet still afraid to kill zombies? They act non-emotional to everything, going as far as to play monopoly while a zombie is right below them, but the act of ending a zombie is too much for them? If these kids are the future of humanity... then the 15 year estimate to extinction was very generous. I give it 2 years.

I understand what they're trying to do. These kids have been sheltered which is why they are hesitant and afraid to kill walkers. They have no clue what is really out there and how dangerous it really is. It's completely different from the other series which are basically the same plot done over and over again. Its probably only worth watching for the overall picture of what's going on in the world.

Re: The Walking Dead: World Beyond — another Walking Dead spinoff

I watched episodes 2 and 3 back to back on Sunday night. Overall, I think the 3rd episode was probably the best of the 3. Lots of Walkers and some scary looking ones too.

I agree with Neil's take above. They are just taking a completely different with how these kids are dealing with the Walkers and their lack of experience.

I found Felix's backstory interesting that he was an in the closet homosexual and his Dad discovered his secret and kicked him out. So in the 10 years since that happened, he basically changed himself into some macho badass.

Re: The Walking Dead: World Beyond — another Walking Dead spinoff

I know I'm probably in the minority, but I think it's slowly gotten better,. I binged episodes 4 and 5 tonight and was entertained. I liked the backstory of Elton when he was a kid and then having him see his Dad get torn to shreds in the aftermath of protecting him.

However, that music choice at the end with him finishing out the book was weird.

The only character I don't really like is Iris and her little flirtation that she has going with Silas is weird and doesn't work for me. I think she's kind of annoying.,

I do like Felix and Huck even though they're side characters. It's weird Annet Mahendru (Huck) looked so hot on The Americans and here she looks so different.

I am interested to see who that mystery stranger was at the end of tonight's episode. Season's half over now, might as well keep going. I have been watching these on AMC+ with no commercials, so it is much easier to get through the episodes.

If I had to give a grade so far at the halfway point, I'd probably give it a C.

Pretty much every kid on this show is dumber than a box of rocks and makes me want to smack them every time they open their mouth. Iris is easily the worst of the bunch.

Felix really is the only decent character on the show up to this point and it makes me wish the series focused on him and left the kids to wander off on their own and die.

Funny. I sort of think they made them a little too smart. It's like they don't know a lot of things but then they can construct a boat in a day.

Re: The Walking Dead: World Beyond — another Walking Dead spinoff

Since the premier I just FF through every scene with the kids and only watch anything that has to do with goings on outside of the main characters. So far that has been one scene, the crazy lady having the guy who questioned her actions taken away after she discussed some of the "outside" world. Unfortunately, even though that scene revealed a few of the details of the larger world, her monologue was a mess. Her explanation of why she was doing these terrible things was completely nonsensical. So even that 6 minutes invested in the last 4 episodes felt like 6 minutes too many. Unless Rick Grimes himself shows up I can't justify the time it takes to delete this show.
