I also largely just care about Jack/Rebecca, with Jack washing the dishes a great scene. Kevin's movie and the Vietnam stuff are interesting too. But yeah, Randall's hero act isn't that interesting, nor is Kate's whining. I am curious how Toby continues to handle the withdraws though.

Is there any reason for Toby to stay off his medication at this point? They took Kate's eggs, got Toby's sperm, and fertilized the eggs. I'm not sure how many of them they implanted, but whatever the number, it wouldn't appear they need Toby's sperm anytime soon (if at all). Any remaining fertilized eggs would be frozen for possible future attempts if the first attempt doesn't work (as it often doesn't).

That's the practical side. However, it doesn't deal with the fact that people on medication, especially mood altering drugs, often resent (to varying degrees) having to take them (for various reasons), so it can sometimes be difficult to get them back on once they stop until something happens to jump start the process.

I found this whole part pretty silly. Anyone who's been on mood stabilizers as long as the character has would be well aware of the side effects and concerns with going cold turkey. He would be having some massive issues IRL by doing that. It's not short like a 2-3 day detox. He would have affects for possibly months after stopping.

The Vietnam episode was pretty good and Michael Angarano playing Jack's brother should be good.

First Vietnam episode was great. Never figured Michael Ironside would be joining the cast.

I figured out where I had seen Toby before!!!

My mind is blown... my 14yo and his friends are watching “Stranger Things” and Chris Sullivan played Benny Hammond!

Whoa!

... he was also Taserface in GotGv2!!!!

Double whoa!

He's also currently on Camping on HBO. He's probably the best thing on the show, though that's not saying much.

It is interesting to see that it looks like he's actually in pretty decent shape. Of course, he wears some kind of fat suit or fake gut to play Toby.

Re: This Is Us (NBC) -- Season 3 Thread -- Premieres 9/25/18

So the election that Randall is running in is being held in December or January, it seems?

Since Kate can't sit for a few hours at a time, I'm guessing no more flights to east coast until the baby comes.

It's weird that they're not using the same actor to play old Nicky and just aged him up like they did for Rebecca and Miguel. Instead they have Griffin Dunne playing him.

I just read an EW interview with actor Michael Angarano and he doesn't mention not playing the older Nicky even though they discuss the character. Of course, they don't mention him playing the character, either.

Griffin Dunne is definetly playing the older version. It was announced on all the news sites last night after the episode aired.

Yeah, I noticed Griffin Dunne's name in the closing credits. There was no else in the episode that could have been him other than old Nicky at the end.

Re: This Is Us (NBC) -- Season 3 Thread -- Premieres 9/25/18

Love the shake ups. Jack's a big time liar and the super couple ends up getting divorced? The scene came and went so quickly I wasn't sure if it was made clear, but that was that supposed to be Rebecca in the hospital, right? Really odd that she actually looked far younger in that short scene than she does with the old age make-up for the scenes that are taking pace in the current time line.

Fan of Griffin Dunne so I'm stoked he's being added to the cast.

Rebecca in the hospital? I don't remember any scene like that.

So Kate's doctor told her to stop taking work where she'd have to spend an hour sitting in a car, but now she has no problem flying across country followed by another car trip. She sure got there fast too.

The scene changes between Griffin Dunne and Michael Angarano worked more smoothly than I expected.

meh meh meh.

This show only works when Jack and Rebecca are on the screen. It's pure gold. Otherwise it's so contrived and hammy.

I had the same reaction to that part. What exactly does Toby do for work again? Or do we just assume that The Manny pays for everything now that he's a movie star?

Really enjoy the stories they're creating but I had a pretty big issue with this part. The Jack we've been introduced to so far would NEVER assume his brother killed the kid on purpose or completely abandon family when he knew his brother was abused by their father and was abusing drugs.

There was one line very early on about him working in IT. You don't ever see it though.

They did at least one scene last season at his workplace (probably because everybody makes the same comments).

Same reason why the minister said something about Randall driving 2 hours each way to Philly.

I'm not even sure where Kevin lives now. He seems to spend most of his time in the East. Where is the apartment that he and his girlfriend are supposedly living together in?

I would assume that Randall and family would be moving to Philly now but they haven't mentioned anything about that.

Hadn't Jack figured out that his brother was using drugs again? It wasn't that Jack believed his brother killed the kid on purpose; it's that Jack didn't know what his brother high on drugs and suffering from PTSD was capable of.
