re: Marvel Cinematic Universe shows on Disney+ Discussion Thread - news, rumors, etc.
Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany are back to reprise their roles as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and The Vision (respectively) in WandaVision, a Marvel Studios Disney+ show which Olsen promises will explore those characters in a deeper way than they’ve been explored so far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here’s what we learned from today’s D23 presentation about the new series, including the news that Matt Shakman will direct and what other MCU characters will show up.
We already knew that Teyonah Parris was on board playing an older version of Monica Rambeau, the precocious young girl from the 1990s-set Captain Marvel, and we knew that not only will Wanda Maximoff be appearing in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, but the events of WandaVision will directly tie in with that film. But at D23, we got some more details about what we can expect from the series.
First, we learned that Monica won’t be the only familiar face showing up again. Kat Dennings, who played the beleaguered intern Darcy in Thor and Thor: The Dark World, will reprise her role on the show. Also back: Jimmy Woo, the government agent played by Randall Park in Ant-Man and the Wasp. How will these two figure into the plot? That’s a good question, as none of these characters have a reason to be in the same room together. Meanwhile, it was also announced that Kathryn Hahn will be playing a “noisy neighbor.” So take from that what you will!

Sounds like all new characters on the TV shows can transition to the movies.

So we have...
Loki
Wandavision
Falcon and Winter Soldier
She-Hulk
Moon Knight
Ms. Marvel
Wonder if they're aiming to have weekly MCU content.
I also wonder how many of these are going to be in some kind of "alternate" timeline.
I will confess to being concerned about what the MCU is going to look like post-Endgame. Loki was killed in IW, but a past version of Loki seems to have escaped that fate in Endgame, which seems to be who will be featured in the D+ series. And WandaVision might also be some kind of similar situation. I do find myself concerned that they're going to balkanize the MCU into a bunch of separate timelines and abandon any sense of cohesion. Essentially turn thing into a jumbled mess like DCEU.

Crazy amount of stuff announced today.
Disney + probably won't be at full capacity until 2021, but they have an impressive catalog of new stuff coming in the 18-24 months.

Marvel's 'Hawkeye' Series Finds Its Writer With 'Mad Men' Scribe (Exclusive)
SEPTEMBER 06, 2019 1:05PM by Borys Kit
Jonathan Igla, who cut his teeth on the AMC drama, will write Marvel's Disney+ series.
Hawkeye has found his writing bull's-eye.
The Marvel series, being developed for the upcoming streaming service Disney+, has tapped Jonathan Igla to act as writer and executive producer. Igla cut his teeth, or sharpened his arrowhead, as it were, as a writer and executive story editor on Mad Men, the award-winning drama that helped establish AMC as a go-to place for critically acclaimed TV.
Jeremy Renner is due to reprise his titular role as the bow-and-arrow wielding Avengers superhero. The story is due to focus on Clint Barton, a non-superpowered hero, trying to teach another hero with an affinity for the bow, Kate Bishop, how to be a hero with no super powers.
The series is tentatively set for a fall 2021 debut and is part of Marvel’s Phase Four round of releases. Phase Four includes the debut of Marvel shows on Disney+, the first one being The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, set for a fall 2020 unveiling. That is to be followed by WandaVision (spring 2021), Loki (also spring 2021), then Hawkeye. At D23, Marvel chief Kevin Feige announced that shows featuring She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight were also in the works.
Igla’s boarding completes most of the key creative hiring for the Phase Four shows. Malcolm Spellman (Empire) is penning Winter Soldier, with Kari Scogland (The Handmaid’s Tale) directing; WandaVision has Jac Schaeffer (Captain Marvel) as showrunner; and Loki has Michael Waldron (Rick & Morty) writing and exec producing.
In addition to working on Mad Men, Igla was a writer-co-producer on Fox’s short-lived sports drama Pitch and writer-supervising producer on Sorry for Your Loss, Facebook’s drama that starred Elizabeth Olsen.
He is repped by Anonymous Content.

re: Marvel Cinematic Universe shows on Disney+ Discussion Thread - news, rumors, etc.
Bloomberg has an extensive profile about the impending debut of Disney+, recounting some of the key moments in the lead-up to next week’s launch. The piece describes how Kevin Feige pitched some of the shows to the cast at the Avengers: Infinity War premiere since many of them were gathered in one place, but how Feige was “more nervous” about one pitch than the others. Marvel reportedly had a deal in place for actor Jeremy Renner to star in a Hawkeye movie, but when Disney+ came around, Feige wanted to change things up and turn that project into a series instead. Apparently Renner took the news well: “He totally got it and said, ‘Let’s do it,'” Feige said.
In 2014, Renner indicated that he wasn’t interested in starring in his own movie, but a couple of years later, he said he was open to exploring the character more in a TV show.
But that wasn’t the only piece of news Feige unveiled. He also says the Loki show will tie directly into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
He declines to discuss the budget for the shows—including reports Disney is spending as much as $25 million per episode on some Marvel shows, more than HBO is believed to have spent during the final season of Game of Thrones. He does drop one little morsel, though. If you want to understand everything in future Marvel movies, he says, you’ll probably need a Disney+ subscription, because events from the new shows will factor into forthcoming films such as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The Scarlet Witch will be a key character in that movie, and Feige points out that the Loki series will tie in, too. “I’m not sure we’ve actually acknowledged that before,” he says. “But it does.”

Hawkeye & Lila; Hawkeye & Lila; Lila; Winter Soldier; Falcon; Sharon Carter; USAgent, and Zemo, I presume? Or are they doing Kate Bishop instead of Lila? Endgame looked like they were setting up Lila to take up her dad's bow.

This is unconfirmed and should be considered a rumor... There is some talk that part of WandaVision will be filmed in front of a live studio audience.
