I finished up the 2nd season today. I was under the impression the creators knew this would not be renewed so they would wrap up the story, but the ending definitely left it open for more. Guess they are hoping another network/streaming service let's them do another season

It doesn't look like it has been officially cancelled, just in limbo because of the Cinemax situation. Given that they are putting it immediately on HBO Max (tomorrow) I would figure it would at least open up the possibility of it continuing as a Max Original.

re: Warrior (Now on Max) -- From the creator of Banshee and Justin Lin

The 2nd season was shot almost a year ago before Cinemax bailed on producing original shows. So they had no idea at the time they were filming.

When Cinemax was making original shows they tended to film them long before their airdate. Even though Warrior has technically not been cancelled, the chances aren't great for it coming back. The actors are only under contract for so long and the longer things drag out, it's likely the sets for this show in South Africa will be torn down.

It's not out of the question that a new audience could just discover it on HBO Max.

Might be the best fight choreography on TV ever. Li Yong's flying kick takedown was something else. As was the nunchaku scene and so many more.

Such a damn shame it's all over next week.
Been making my way through season 2, and it really hasn't been quite as good as season one. Today, I watched episode 9. Holy shitballs!

I wonder if they'll return to South Africa or find another location to film?

This is such an awesome and badass show, but it got little to no attention being on Cinemax. Now that seasons 1 and 2 are on HBO Max, it's gotten more eyes on it. It's frustrating sometimes when you see quality productions like this go totally unnoticed because the platform is too small.

I would think yes because all the sets were built there. But then again, it would depend on the COVID situation in SA and tax credits.

Felt exactly the same way as "Banshee" - my favorite show ever (ironically, same showrunner).

Love that HBO Max is absorbing some of these lesser known gems. It's truly a great time for quality TV.

I really need to watch this. HBO Max is quickly becoming my 2nd favorite streaming platform (next to Netflix), and could easily become my #1. It will be interesting to see if they start adding 4k transfers of older theatrical films and their own series.

Good story about how Warrior was saved. Says they are hoping to go into production next year in South Africa again.

I just started watching this last week and I'm already almost through season 2. Andrew Koji is great as the central character, but by season 2 it's really become an ensemble show following several characters whose stories are all tangled together. Such a great show, I'm so glad there is going to be a season 3!

Wahoo! Just started Season 2 and SO glad this show is getting the eyeballs it deserves on HBO Max!

Plus, as Banshee is my favorite show ever, will watch whatever the showrunner does.

I watched the first episode on a free Cinemax weekend, bought the first season on Vudu but didn’t watch it, then just watched both seasons on HBO. Great series! But I loved Banshee, and the vibe is very similar. Season 2 really followed the Game of Thrones model in having big stuff happen in episode 9. I’m eager for season 3.

It hasn't started filming yet so I'm hoping this won't be the next Discovery casualty.

Filming officially begins July 18th. So looks like a late 2023 release most likely then.

Good to read this... I just wrapped up Banshee (yesterday) and I'm now jonesing for something similar. I'll give this a watch.
