Warrior (Now on Max) -- From the creator of Banshee and Justin Lin

Finished this up recently and honestly, I was kind of disappointed by it. I liked the setting and the concept, but I didnt find it very engaging and while I wanted to watch the entire thing, it didn't make me want to watch it right away. I will say though that the western episode was great and the mayor's wife is pretty cute.

Cinemax kills original programming. The future of Warrior is in doubt even though it was renewed and season 2 was in production. But Andrew Koji is currently in Japan filming Snake Eyes from the recent press photos I saw. So they must have or are close to wrapping.

The creator of Warrior, Jonathan Tropper says season 2 will air in the Fall. But, he doesn't know if it will continue beyond that.
His post sounds like a funeral speech for Cinemax.

It is sad, but a channel who only has a couple of originals, its understandable
So will they try shop around to Netflix for season 3 and beyond ? or go out in a blaze of glory with season 2 ?

Damn. I hope we get another season of Jett too. Honestly I'm not surprised, no one I personally know and have talked TV with has seen any Cinemax shows. The viewership numbers must be abysmal. Shame, they've had some great shows.

That post made me realize that I gave every Cinemax original at least a few episodes to grab me as their track record was so solid with Banshee, Strike Back, and now Warrior ranking among my favorite series. Hopefully these will find a home but at least I no longer have to lament Comcast dropping Cinemax from my tier.

Disappointing but not surprising. I bought all the seasons of Banshee, Strike Back, Quarry, and The Knick but waited for price drops and never subscribed. I liked the first episodes of Jett and Warrior and have been waiting for price drops on those.

The 1st season of Warrior averaged around 133,000 viewers and that doesn't count on demand viewers. it was actually higher than the most recent season of Strike Back.
I have to imagine that AT&T thought these numbers were hash marks compared to the stuff that airs on HBO and wasn't worth spending millions to produce with little return.
But, as I posted above about what Jonathan Tropper said, Cinemax was basically the bastard child of HBO. It was an underfunded and undermarketed channel that hardly anyone subscribed to year-round.

What i don't understand is why not put these Cinemax shows on HBO Max ? (back catalog) Surely more is better and they will gain more viewers from people who never had Cinemax
I don't see a downside for HBO for doing this

The trailer for the 2nd and final season. Comes out in October.
For those who have not paid attention, Cinemax is out of producing original shows. This will be the final one.

I'll have to wait and do a 7-day trial of Cinemax to binge this and the last season of Strike Back. Thanks Comcast for getting rid of the channel with my two favorite shows.

Warrior's 2 produced seasons will move to HBO Max after season 2 airs on Cinemax
And according to the story, Shannon Lee isn't ruling out a 3rd season.

Season 2 premieres tonight for those here who still have Cinemax. I still have Max, so I'll watch it.
For others, it will be on HBO Max after it wraps on Max.

1st episode was pretty badass. Some really cool fight scenes, especially that Warehouse sequence where Ah Toy, Ah Sahm and the other person sliced and diced everyone who was attacking that Chinese man.
I liked the introduction of the new girl Vega.

I really liked the ETD plot of last Friday's episode. Nice stand alone episode like they did last season.

I have really enjoyed every episode this season. It has found its stride and it’s sad it will probably be over so quickly.

Episode 9 was so fucking badass! From start to finish.
Might be the best fight choreography on TV ever. Li Yong's flying kick takedown was something else. As was the nunchaku scene and so many more.
Such a damn shame it's all over next week.

I loved season one, but I lost Cinemax in the summer of '19, and I couldn't justify adding it back because they were eliminating original programming (I figured I'd just buy it). I look forward to watching this next month. Now, I just need them to add Jett which I lost halfway through the season.
