FOX says they're committed to bringing 24 back, but nixed all the ideas. Does that mean they're just waiting for Sutherland to be available again? Did they finally figure out that HE'S the show, not (necessarily) the concept?

Supposedly they already wrapping shooting the entire 3rd season of Designated Survivor. So Kiefer is technically available as of right now. But, it sounds like they don't really have an idea yet or if Kiefer is even part of it. This is starting from scratch, so it's unlikely to be considered for the 2019-20 season. IMO, it doesn't even have to be another 12 episode season. Just get Kiefer for a 2 hour wrap up movie like what they did with 24: Redemption years ago. That worked.

Unless Keifer decides to return it's best to let this franchise remain dormant.

It's not like he doesn't have a financial interest in the franchise - he was an executive producer on "Legacy" and I presume he would have been the same for any other spin-off/reboot. I think it's just a time/commitment thing for him and, of course, the extra money that they'll need to give him (probably $1 million an episode) to come back.

Keifer being an executive producer is not a selling point, so let me rephrase, without Keifer in the starring role of Jack Bauer then it's best to leave well enough alone.

Executive producer doesn't seem to be a meaningful title. Especially if all he is doing is just "rubber stamping" stuff, and/or has very little to no say in the final decisions.

I'm one of the few who enjoyed Legacy. It was nice just having the format back. But I also thought Cory Hawkins would become a bigger star between this and Straight Outta Compton.
