New Season of Mythbusters -- 11/15/17
If anyone is interested, the new season of Mythbusters starts tonight, 6:02pm PST, with the new, contest winners, hosting. I think it's also available On Demand.

They should have continued Mythbusters with Kari and Grant hosting instead of this "Next Science Channel Star" stuff.

thanks for the heads up - I will see if my DVR recorded this.
I don't mind them changing the guard. I do like the old cast, but it was more of the format that I got bored with. They were less about good science and myth testing - but more of blowing stuff up.

Based on the previews, it appears that this one follows the same logic. Big explosions, even when they're not needed.

I somewhat disagree. I loved Kari/Grant/Tori on mythbusters but could only watch a couple of episodes of their spin off show "white rabbit project" which appears not to have been picked up for a second season. Not sure the formula will work with the new guys either....

Curious, is the new Mythbusters cancelled? Seeing ads for this Mythbusters Jr. hosted by Adam. Not the target audience and can't really stand kids, so won't be watching, but wondered what happened to the other duo.

Not sure. I still see them in various Discovery Channel adds but I haven't seen any word of a new season. I'm curious as well.

I was just wondering about this myself the other day when I realized I couldn't remember seeing a new episode for a very long time.
And likewise I have zero interest in a Jr edition.

They're running a 12 day Mythbusters marathon beginning Saturday, Dec 22 on The Science Channel.

Nice to see, but not as good as past marathons. I don't think this year they're playing every episode.

did anyone watch Mythbusters Jr? It for me was pretty awful. It was made worse by all the call backs they did via old footage to the original. I suspect this will be one season and done.....

I've watched a few of Mythbusters Jr at this point and my family is loving it just as much as the original. The kids are fun and fit right in with Adam. It'd be cool if we get a cameo from any of the other Mythbusters.

I haven't watched this version of the show, but I did overhear some of the myths they were testing and they sounded interesting. One of the problems with the classic Mythbusters was that towards the end the myths were pretty lame and became nothing more than excuses to use explosives, shoot guns, and crash cars. Those are all fun things but there wasn't a whole lot of "myth busting" going on any more. Typical late series myth: "If you use a cannon to shoot a car filled with high explosives into a quarry lake will we be able to fill an episode?"

Re: New Season of Mythbusters -- 11/15/17
That's very true. Mythbusters Jr has definitely taken things back to small scale myths which might be why we're enjoying it. The one we watched yesterday tested whether a single pencil has enough lead to write for 35 miles OR enough lead to write 45,000 words. They also did a Breaking Bad "myth" where they tested the giant magnet Walter & Jessie used to wipe evidence out of the evidence lab. Another tested the movie myth whether or not barricading a door with a pile of furniture could save you from a villain.
That being said, they still ramp things up on some of the other myths. They did crush a car testing a slinky myth but that was more of a byproduct of how the science actually worked out, but there has been very little "let just blow shit up because" moments.
