Re: S.W.A.T. (CBS) -- Season 3 Thread -- Premieres 10/2/19

This week's episode of SWAT was shot on location in Tokyo, Japan.

I know those who follow SWAT here don't really talk about it actively week to week, but thought this was cool to mention. Not many network TV shows actually shoot on location overseas.

Honestly, I'm not a fan of Amy Farrington as the new series regular. I don't think her character is really needed other than being an annoying adversary to Hondo and Hicks.

I liked the undercover 2 parter with Streit.

Re: S.W.A.T. (CBS) -- Season 3 Thread -- Premieres 10/2/19

So they did something very ironic. They have Rochelle Aytes playing Hondo's new love interest Nichelle

https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1468674/

and if you watched Criminal Minds, she played Derek Morgan's (also played by Moore) love interest in his final season on that show as well 4 years ago.

Kind of interesting that 2 separate CBS shows with 2 actors playing 2 different characters would play love interests again.

Renewed for a 4th season

I believe this week is the season finale (episode 21)

I know SWAT doesn't get much love here, but it's probably my favorite CBS show slightly ahead of FBI. Great ensemble cast.

2 episodes airing tonight back to back

This is supposed to be a 16 to 18 episode season due to the pandemic.

I believe the 1st episode tonight was actually written to air last season dealing with the 1992 LA riots. This season is taking place in the COVID world.

Re: S.W.A.T. (CBS) -- Season 4 Thread -- Premieres 11/11/20

I watched the 1st of the 2 episodes late last night.

I thought they did a really good job with it. And I didn't think it was too heavy handed. They did incorporate a little of what's happening with COVID and George Floyd, but it was at the backdrop. The scenes with young Hondo and has Daniel back in 1992 dealing with the riots were haunting. And it also showed how some of the tension between them came about because Hondo passed on having a college football career to join the marines. This episode was originally written to air last season so I see they probably only made minor revisions and it worked really well.

The actual main plot with the terrorist cell was pretty good. Some good action and tension and some crazy explosions. I did like the ending with Hondo, Daniel and Darryl visiting that mural in present day.

and now we know Hondo's age. He's 45 (Moore is 50) His Dad said he was 17 in 1992.

at Street's car chase at the beginning of episode 2.

Thief stole toilet paper, hand sanitizer and wipes.

Kind of a downer for Hondo and Deacon in this one. Nichelle breaks up with Hondo and Deacon has to quarantine from his family because of COVID.

Looks like Lynch is no longer a regular on the show. She wasn't in episode 2.

Is there a reason Luca is in Germany? Was the actor not available for shooting?

Can you tell me if Kenny Johnson has left S.W.A.T.? He has not filmed anything for Season 4 (premiering Nov. 11) and they began filming in August. –Natasha
Let’s just say that the looks of social media can be deceiving. “We have a few twists with Luca, especially early on, where we’re going to have him working on a larger project that may take him out of the city of Los Angeles,” EP Aaron Rahsaan Thomas teased during our in-depth Fall Preview Q&A. “But I don’t want to reveal too much just yet with that.”

Re: S.W.A.T. (CBS) -- Season 4 Thread -- Premieres 11/11/20

Looks like Hondo is in deep shit with Darryl's father for not testifying at his parole hearing. I bet this comes back later on in the season to haunt him.

They actually toned down the COVID references in this episode a lot. Only 1 scene you saw people wearing masks where that big supermarket shootout happened.

I'm curious about this storyline with Luca in Germany since they haven't Kenny Johnson now in 3 episodes. But, according to what I posted last week, they do claim they have plans for him.

Shemar Moore has coronavirus and he does have symptoms. I saw his Instagram post and he seems okay. Los Angeles right now is a mess with the virus, so he could have gotten it anywhere.

The show is on holiday break right now.

I'm caught up with all 6 episodes that have aired. So far, so good. I know there isn't much chatter about this show here, but I still really enjoy it.

Still fun show. I am sick of all the cloak and dagger Luca shit. He is either on the show or not on the show. Make up your fucking mind.

She was only a minor character, but damn that sucked they killed off Erika. She and Chris had become really close friends and you could see it devastated Chris. And the character was moving up the ranks as well.

Kenny Johnson has been MIA through the first 8 episodes except through some Skype appearances. Looks like he's back on set finally.

I knew it was coming about half way through the episode. All the stuff with Chris just screamed bad ending. Still surprised they killed her off.

Yeah that fire sequence where they rescued that guy was so obvious it was shot on a movie studio set.

Re: S.W.A.T. (CBS) -- S: Shemar Moore -- From EP Shawn Ryan -- Premieres 11/2/17

I'm a few weeks late, but I just watched the 2-part season premiere that was filmed on location in Mexico. It was great. Good action. Had a very Western vibe to it and Hondo was pretty badass in that 2nd episode working with that Mexican cop. The actor who played the main villain I recall seeing him before playing bad guys.

It was something a little different than what they usually do and I enjoyed it. I didn't see the latest episode yet.

Re: S.W.A.T. (CBS) -- S: Shemar Moore -- From EP Shawn Ryan -- Premieres 11/2/17

I finished the 3rd episode from Friday.

Some interesting developments. Hondo is demoted and this new team leader Sanchez is apparently a "plant" from higher up to get Hondo to quit.

Intriguing stuff so far. You could tell the new team leader is a douche. Also, glad to see Kenny Johnson back in the mix after his weird absences last season.

I realize the CBS dramas aren’t discussion friendly shows. Hence this thread has been dead.

Tonight is the season finale and Lina Esco is leaving the show.

SWAT is currently filming in Bangkok, Thailand.

Here's some video that Shermar Moore shot

I love how this show always tries to take chances and do more. They've filmed in Japan and last season in Mexico.

The season premiere on Friday night was pretty good. I love that it was shot on location in Thailand. And also glad it’s a two parter. It would have felt rushed if it was only one episode.

I noticed that Rochelle Aytes, who plays Honda’s girlfriend, is now a series regular and in the opening credits. I’m assuming they’re going to use the female guest actors to fill the void for Chris.

Is the actress who plays the medic/new SWAT member going to be a regular as well? I'd imagine yes since she was already in a bunch of episodes last season.
