I missed this story from a few weeks ago, but as I suspected, Kenny Johnson and Alex Russell will only be guest stars in the final season. Obviously this was likely a money related decision to get the final season.

Gabriel was an idiot. He turns around and gets killed by the "bigger" terrorists. Of course he was going to get double crossed.
Good to see Deacon and Tan back. I know the show had to make cuts to get this last season, but I'm glad those two were kept. I could see how they determined Luca and Street were expendable.
Predictable, but fun episodes. Now back to LA.

Friday was Alex Russell’s last episode as Street. A little abrupt, but it was a nice wrap up for him. Looks like next week is Kenny Johnson’s wrap up as Luca.

Oh damn Luca
The stupid CBS promos gave away that pivotal final scene as the cliffhanger.
Looks like Deacon is heading to retirement for his eventual farewell.

Kenny Johnson's real life daughter Angelica plays Kelly. Didn't realize that. I know her character has been recurring.
The next episode doesn't air until April 5th after March madness
There are 7 episodes left this final season. They would be able to air new episodes 7 of the next 8 weeks when they return.
Shemar has been saying on social medias that he's trying to find a way for the show to continue. But, ultimately that's not his decision.
But, apparently SWAT has been doing really well this final season.

They better not have offed Luca.
I would be happy if it came back, but TBH, I would love to see Moore back on Criminal Minds.
If you are getting rid of all of these characters, you are just going to have a bunch randos like they do now.

Well, that was a pretty nice send off for Kenny Johnson. The 3 week time jump after the opening credits was a little jarring though.
With Luca and Street written out, looks like we’re in the home stretch with this core group. Rochelle Aytes posted last week they were filming episode 11, so they are almost wrapped for good.

Was there ever a real-world explanation for why the show essentially wrote Kenny Johnson out for long periods of time? I assumed the actor was having personal life troubles but the didn't want to ditch him completely.

He was involved in a lawsuit against the studio for an on set injury that happened a few years ago.

I don't know if I'd say Johnson is a good actor, but he always brings a certain innocence to the roles he's in which is endearing. I hope he finds a show to be in now that this is over. Something that's not a cop would be a nice change of pace.

Latest episode from Friday with Adam Baldwin as the bad guy was pretty cool. Looks like Tan has a potential romantic interest with that reporter. But, I feel like he has some chemistry with Cabrera. However, she's not scheduled to appear in anymore episodes this year.
Deacon passes the word that he's retiring to Hondo. It's going to be interesting to see how he backtracks and decides to stay with SWAT. I'm sure they're going to write his wife as understanding that the team is also his family or something like that.
Kenny Johnson posted on Instagram congratulating the show on getting another season. But, I'm sure he's not happy about being written out now.

Friday's episode was odd. That case probably shouldn't have even been on SWAT's agenda. I know Hondo was really only doing it as a favor. That should have been something for the RHD department. Also, Tan was missing with no explanation. They did use Cabrera though. It's kind of weird how they rotate between Powell and Cabrera as the female team member with really no reason. I mean was Powell off that day? Not my favorite episode this season.
