Re: Brooklyn Nine-Nine (FOX) -- Season 5 Thread -- premieres 9/26/17

Question: Does that fact that NBC-bound Brooklyn Nine-Nine is being held until midseason mean that we won’t be getting our annual Halloween Heist episode? —Jacob

Ausiello: It might mean that. Then again, it might… not. Basically, EP Dan Goor tells us that he’s looking at possibly keeping the Heist but ditching the Halloween. “The Halloween aspect is much less significant every year, so it may not matter [if it doesn’t air on or near Halloween],” he shares. “We’re trying to figure it out because we love [those episodes]… They’re some of the hardest to write [but also] some of the most satisfying. They feel like a signature of the show.”

Just burned through all five seasons via Hulu and will watch next season “live.” Funny stuff, and I enjoy nearly all the characters (Gina is mostly annoying). Melissa Fumero is adorable and I found myself pretty invested in her relationship with Jake. And the Holt texting scene was a riot.

In a case of good news getting better, NBC is expanding its commitment to Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

The network announced Friday that it has added five more episodes to its initial order of 13, bringing the total for season six of the Fox-turned-NBC comedy to 18.

NBC acquired Brooklyn Nine-Nine in May after Fox's surprising decision to cancel the drama produced by Universal Television. The network will debut the comedy in midseason, with a specific return date yet to be determined.

I don't have time right now to go look for the GIF so I'll just say "Hot Damn!".

Chelsea Peretti is leaving the show sometime in season 6 though she's still open to guest appearances. It took me awhile to warm to the Gina character, but I did grow to like her. However, if we had to lose one character she would have been my choice. The show didn't really miss her that much when she was on maternity leave last year.

I know she's a comedian and has done some other things, but it's not like Peretti's career is booming for her to quit a somewhat stable show.

Took me a bit to warm up to the Gina character as well, but I do like that her character is original. Haven't quite seen a character like Gina in other shows - a few traits, but not all of them combined in the same way.

Probably has more to do with her new child and Jordan's career skyrocketing after Get Out.

So what you're saying is she's going to sit at home and take care of the kid while her husband brings home the bacon. How progressive.

I'm a bit disappointed. I know a lot of people here refer to Gina as the "weak link" on the show, but I frequently laugh at her deadpan put-downs, especially of Amy and Charles.
