Extended episode! Directed by Vince Gilligan!

Vince has taken a big step back this year, letting Peter Gould pretty much run the show solo.

I think the song lyrics in the iPhone commercial that aired during that episode summed it up best .... "let me catch my breath"

that is how you do drama ... doesn't get much better than that

Did anyone else notice Hector began mad dogging Nacho, and Nacho knew to give it right back to him. Lalo picked up on it and sent him away. Fantastic!

^ I don't know what mad dogging is. That Lalo is a really bad dude, he makes me so nervous every time he is on screen.

Heartbreaking break up between Jimmy and Kim. And that review board scene was amazing work by Odenkirk. Just awesome stuff all around

Did they break up? Seemed like they did, but at the end it looked like they're gonna try to figure something out (obviously leading to Saul).

Wait - 9/21/18? Did I miss an episode? Or are you talking about last night - 10/1/18 (which I haven't watched yet)?

Date in the thread title is wrong. This was the 10/1 episode.

Edit: Good episode this week. Like with the super lab, I never figured we'd get an origin story of 'the bell' also - turns out we get both.

Another great Jimmy/Kim episode. From their opening scam to their parking garage argument, top notch performances from both.

Ironic thing about Jimmy being rejected is that he was absolutely sincere in his interview, but if he had mentioned his brother as they wanted him to, that's when he would've been bullshitting them.

Re: Better Call Saul (S4E09) -- 78 minute episode -- "Wiedersehen" -- 10/1/18

I don't think that necessarily the case. Sure Jimmy has animosity towards Chuck now, but to deny that Chuck wasn't a huge influence on Jimmy's interest in the law is a complete lie. I get that he doesn't want to tear up at the memory of Chuck to impress them, but to deny his influence is insincere as well.

Alan Sepinwall deep-dives into the scene in his latest episode review. He points out that Jimmy's response to "What does the law mean to you" was also very insincere and something that Chuck would have eloquently answered without a moment's pause.

I really wonder what, if anything, is going to happen to the German on the run.

Didn't Jimmy only want to become a lawyer so he could impress/bang Kim? He was happy in the mail room until he noticed Kim being turned on by Chuck's knowledge of the law.

Yeah I don't see them letting him live after that.

How will the other Germans react to not having their boss there though? Would they be able to, or even want to, finish the job on their own?

Re: Better Call Saul (S4E09) -- 78 minute episode -- "Wiedersehen" -- 10/1/18

Good episode.

Seems like the common theme of this episode is about people not being sincere.
Lalo's full of shit in his conversation with Hector, and him and Gus were just putting on a huge act in their conversation.

Jimmy wasn't really being sincere. There may have been elements of sincerity, but he was putting on a show as well. The German was hiding his weakness and then screwed Mike over.

We see what Kim really thinks of Jimmy professionally. She has a similar impression of him as Chuck did.

Not sure what Mike/Gus will do with the German though. Does it matter that he knows where the lab is? He lives in Germany and has no ties to the actual business - and there's no reason for him to talk to law enforcement or anything. It's not like he went to talk to their rival or the DEA - he just went home to see his wife. Based on principle, he should pay for it - but what damage could he realistically do?

Well now he knows exactly where he is located, the dry cleaners is not there, but it would not be too hard to narrow it down. Before they had very little, if any, clue where they were located.

Wouldn't Mike be holding onto all of the Germans' passports?

Tell them, he had a family emergency, the other guy is in charge and they need to get the job done.

Right, but what would/could he do with that information? He's getting paid handsomely and then he goes home to Germany and it's over. Not sure how him knowing the vague location of a secret underground space from halfway across the world would be a risk.

Up to this point, Mike's hands are clean. He's been a good advisor and project manager for Gus, but he hasn't engaged in any wet work. This could be the point where he breaks bad.
