My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman -- Netflix

They’ll have more than “nothing” to talk about.
Comedian Jerry Seinfeld will take the couch opposite David Letterman for a live version of Letterman’s Netflix talk series “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.” The two will sit down for a conversation about life, comedy and their upcoming projects at Netflix’s Emmy FYSEE space in Hollywood on May 7.
Letterman marked his return to television with the six-part series, which debuted in January, interviewing high-profile newsmakers, including Barack Obama, George Clooney, Malala, Yousafzai Tina Fey, Jay Z and Howard Stern. In her review of the series, Variety‘s Sonia Saraiya wrote, “With so many podcasts and talk shows out there, it’s hard to make a case for another interview show — but then again, the draw with ‘My Next Guest Needs No Introduction’ is not that they are interviews, but that Letterman and his individual subjects will nab viewers.”
Seinfeld has also found a home on the streaming service, bringing his Emmy-nominated series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” to the platform. New episodes are set to launch later this year. Last year, Seinfeld inked a multi-faceted production deal with Netflix that also includes two new stand-up specials filmed exclusively for the streaming service.
Netflix’s FYSEE exhibition at Los Angeles’ Raleigh Studios, which spans 30,ooo square feet across three soundstages, opens May 6 with a kickoff party and runs through June 9. Along with panels for series like “GLOW,” “Dear White People” and “Wild Wild Country,” the schedule also includes a few themed nights allowing the streamer to cover multiple shows of a similar genre, including the May 12 “Rebels and Rulebreakers” highlighting female stars and creatives from shows including “Orange Is the New Black,” “GLOW,” “Grace and Frankie,” and others. The program concludes with an afternoon session on drama “Ozark” and an evening with the denizens of the western miniseries “Godless.”

They’d stream it live and then instantly have it on the server as rewatchabe content when it’s done airing.
I don’t recall Netflix doing anything live before though.

Howard Stern’s episode will air May 31st.
I really hope that Dave does more episodes. This show has been fantastic in my opinion.
I’m a huge Tina Fey fan so I’ll probably take a nap and wake up to watch this episode at midnight.

Tina's was enjoyable because it's Tina... but I didn't feel the interview was that great. Seemed a bit fluffy and didn't really take much away from it like the others.

The Seinfeld live thing was apparently on last night. But it is not streaming on Netflix as of now, or at least I can't find it. The Tiny Fey episode is the latest one that shows up on my Netflix.

Maybe it isn't something that they are airing? Which is strange.

This episode has numerous references on the Letterman fb page but no mention of where or how it can be seen.

Both the Seinfeld and Stern interviews are streaming now on Netflix. Looks like I will be extra tired in the morning.

Just watched the Stern one. Very good. Not much we haven't heard before, but some of the family stuff about his daughters seemed like new information.

Finally got a chance to watch the Stern interview, and I was sort of expecting more. If you are a Stern fan, then you heard most of the stuff before (although it was interesting that he mentioned his sister was not in his movie, and that was intentional because she was just a blur in his childhood). This is such a great format to have a guest for an hour (compared to the 10 minutes you get with Fallon, Kelly Ripa, Kimmel, etc, but Letterman never really probed about Stern the way I was looking for.
As for Letterman, good god he just looks totally uninterested in doing anything anymore (he pretty much admits it in the interview in a joking way). I grew up with him when he was so damn funny/quirky on NBC, and he has progressively gotten more and more miserable through the years and is completely unfunny now. Now I remember why I stopped watching him on CBS.

Yeah, I’m a Stern listener and liked it, but wish we got some stuff “in the field” or with his parents. Of course Howard wouldn’t go for the horse riding, but a simple walk and talk could have been cool.
I was coincidentally listening to the segment a week back where his Mom called in and was complaining about how her part in a news segment on him was severely cut - and she had told all her friends to tune in, and was subsequently embarrassed.

Howard impersonating his mom's voice is still one of the funniest things as it's a typical Long Island mother.

Yeah, I like those segments where you see them outside their bubble. Or maybe he never goes out in the wild.

I’ve loved Dave from Day1 on tv, but these interviews do nothing for me. Oh well.
