In today's world things like putting your hand up a girl's skirt is classified as rape in the media (and yes it definitely is not cool and deserves punishment but it isn't penis in vagina rape)

And slapping a girl on the bum is called sexual assault (again definitely not cool and deserves punishment)

The word sexual misconduct has been used in this instance which could be anything from talking to a girl inappropriately, but doesn't imply anything too extreme

i can't see Corrine in any shape of form pressing charges, she know she was 'part of the game'

Because these shows are such pinnacles of cultural refinement.

How bad does a show have to be to make a casually denigrating racial reference OK to post in a public forum?

I mean, I get it. There will always be people arguing for their right to spread written and verbal feces over the sidewalk, but I reserve the right to occasionally point it out for what it is so as to remind reasonable thinking people that it isn't OK. It won't totally clear up the sidewalk, but hopefully it'll at least provide a few clean places to step.

I've seen the waiver these contestants have to sign and I'm reasonably certain it literally says you could be sexually assaulted and you waive any right to sue for that.

If there was no intent on your part, I rescind my reaction and consider the issue dead. In the U.S., fried chicken, watermelon (and others I'm sure I'm forgetting) references are used to denigrate blacks.

In other news, some outlets are masking Corinne's name now while continuing to freely report DeMario's. He has asked for producers to release footage of the encounter or at least make a clarifying statement that he isn't under investigation, the show's producers are.

They can say whatever they want but if someone winds up dead or raped, a reality show waiver doesn't absolve the show/network/person involved from criminal action. Recall the MTV settlement with Tonya when sexual misconduct went down on a Challenge.

With lawsuits pending, i think this is the end of Bachelor in paradise for good. The bachelor franchise should get forget about these forays into the sleazier side of reality tv

There's no so thing as waiving your rights to sue if a crime has been committed.

There is no such thing as waving your right to sue the perpetrator of a crime against you. I'm not a lawyer, but there may be a legally binding agreement that you won't hold the production company liable should a third party commit a crime against you.

If the production company is a aparty to the crime good luck to them. Seems to me they set up the environment that contributed to the crime so they'll probably get sued anyways.

Be careful not to conflate criminal prosecution with civil lawsuits. There is no single answer to whether a waiver will hold up in civil court, and you would be foolish to assume it won't when considering signing one.

Getting a bunch of weak willed and easy plied people together, boozing them up and then seeing what fights and sexual encounters occur is pretty much par for the course on most MTV shows. I don't see how this is anything new? Anyone that goes on these kinds of shows and drinks to excess is asking for trouble.

Of course, it doesn't preclude a suit against the person committing the crime.

But if you were made aware of the potential for harm, including third party criminal acts, and proceeded in face of those dangers, you absolutely can waive a claim against the producers of the show.

However, some courts have held that such a clause would be unconscionable in the face of "reckless" behavior by the producers. What that means is typically a factual matter for the jury. Here, I suppose they would argue that allowing a clearly intoxicated Corrine to be sexually assaulted was reckless - but there appears to be some indication that she was lucid and a willing participant. No one can know at all until the video is released (which it never will be).

I have read the Bachelor contract since someone I knew was trying to be on the show and after reading it, felt it was so one-sided for such little money it was not worth it. She did not pursue it any further. I think they have since published it online.

Since she has hired Marty Singer, I imagine what will happen is that:

1) Corrine will get a nice payday and an iron clad confidentiality/nondisparagement agreement;

2) The video will be destroyed; and

3) BIP is done forever.

Apparently the investigation by ABC is done, and they found no real wrong doing. Reality Steve said a show might still be produced for this summer. Weather its Bachelor in Paradise is still unknown.

They could go back to "Bachelor Pad", BIP's predecessor, which was primarily a game show with "Big Brother-ish" contests.

That's kind of what I was hoping for, put the same group of people in the Bachelor Mansion for three weeks, it would have the game show aspect plus throw in a little bit of the sleaze from BIP. It could be done and ready for August.

A statement was just released by Warner Bros. , no Sexual assault occured, the show will resume production. The " pool Incident" will never get aired, and the season will probably start over without Corrine and DeMario. I am sure the producers can find two people to take their place.

Or maybe no sexual assault was captured by the cameras.

Women are probably just happy it'll be back.

I have been a fan since the beginning so I'll be watching.
