Bachelor in Paradise Production Suspended Over Alleged Sexual Misconduct

Details are still leaking out but it appears that during the first days of filming, former contestants DeMario and Corrine were told they would be a storyline this season. After spending time at the bar together, and allegedly drinking most of the day, the two retired to the pool, where there was significant sexual contact. Now, producers are claiming that Corrine may not have been sober enough to consent and she is claiming to remember nothing about the incident. DeMario however claims that she was lucid and a willing participant, and also that due to his intoxication, he was unable to "perform."

Production is suspended while WB investigates. The Cast has been flown to Houston and in all likelihood the show is going to be shut down (maybe permanently).

Sort of surprised this hasn't happened before...

Yeah, that just seems like any other day on that show.

Surprised it didn't happen sooner.

SVU already did it.

Dammit. I love the sleaziness of this show. Guess it got too sleazy for its own good.

The video must be pretty damning if they shut down production.

A lot more stories on this today. I always enjoyed the series as a guilty pleasure, but I didn't realize it was one of ABC's top summer shows. One story says they will continue (or re-start) filming once things get cleared up, but another says it's all over (I suppose they'll have to decide if the publicity helps or hurts). Apparently, it's also spoiling some of this season's "Bachelorette", since "suitors" are turning up as contestants on "BIP" before they've been dropped from the show.

I hope this gets rectified quickly... this is my most anticipated summer show.

definitely sounds from other news articles that this season is done, won't air at all, cast have been sent home

It seems like it was just a bit of pussy licking, not full on sex. Corrine put her vag in the black dude's face in the pool and he started going to town like it was fried chicken

Interesting the word misconduct is being used and not sexual assault

I don't watch the show. I understand having alcohol to loosen things up but why would they allow someone to drink to the point where something like this could happen. With cameras rolling. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen, even with consent forms.

Because they find the weakest and/or most unstable people possible and put them in situations that allow them to gather ratings for the network.

In return, these people think they will be famous and have a free ride.

I don't think people want to see someone that drunk.

Re: Bachelor in Paradise Production Suspended Over Alleged Sexual Misconduct

Last season they opened with one contestant who was generally drunk and obnoxious and built "drama" out of how long he'd be tolerated by the other contestants and the production.

Re: Bachelor in Paradise Production Suspended Over Alleged Sexual Misconduct

So basically two contestants got drunk and fucked around, a producer felt the female contestant was too drunk to consent, said the show went too far and shut it down?

...I don't get it.

I also look at the crew's perspective. If you're the cameraman or boom mike operator, what's your obligation to continue doing your job vs allowing a crime (rape?) to happen? When you sign up to these gigs, do you envision being in such a work environment that would have "hostile work environment" lawsuits left and right if done anywhere else? Bottom line, it's just fucked up and I won't miss it if it's gone.

Re: Bachelor in Paradise Production Suspended Over Alleged Sexual Misconduct

I can understand the crew not wanting to be accused of not "stepping in" in the lawsuit first/common sense rarely world of today. So playing it safe and covering their ass is completely understandable. There is no doubt someone thought that when this girl sobers up (or even a year from now when gets tired of catching crap about it from her social circle) there is a chance she could cry rape and the production would be accused of allowing it to happen. Never mind that these people are adults, they are familiar with the nature of the show, the effects or alcohol, and human sexuality.

Re: Bachelor in Paradise Production Suspended Over Alleged Sexual Misconduct

Then again, a season or so back a cameraman was banging a contestant, which is against the rules. He's jumped out a balcony to avoid getting caught and he broke his leg/ankle. I'm not sure if he was fired.

+1

Producers look for the most unstable personalities possible to create drama on reality shows.

They then load them up on alcohol. Isolated and alone in foreign settings, it's a recipe to create crazy drama. The Real World perfected the formula years ago.

Did you see the last season of The Bachelor? Corrine acted like a whore (excuse me...more of a whore than the other girls) the entire season and was proud of it in the reunion show.

I am not surprised she is one of the people involved in this.

It's also a recipe for a lawsuit.
