I actually kind of like the character of Tara, but what a waste of an episode. Usually, making an episode non-linear has a purpose. What was the purpose here? There was nothing... nothing... that needed to be 'revealed' at the mid-point of the story.

That whole episode could have been condensed into a 15 minute sub plot/b-story and it would have been interesting

I think the reveal was that Heath didn't abandon her, but it was clumsily executed to be sure.

For the next episode I'd like to see the exact same time period, but from Heath's point of view.

They could have added 10 minutes to another episode and covered what this episode covered. They could have done that and shortened the first half of the season to 7 episodes and it would have been fine.

For the first time in TWD history, I keep holding off watching a new episode, as I am dreading an hour of Tara. I've been using this time to catch up with Westworld.

The only real problem I had with this episode is Tara basically cracking jokes when held at gunpoint by numerous people that just stated they were going to kill her.

You know what, I didn't mind this episode for the most part. They did reveal this new community that Tara discovered as having a backstory with the Saviors. So I'm sure that will come into play later or probably in the 2nd half of the season. Plus they have weapons too.

Apparently Alanna Masterson is pretty fucking pissed off about the Internet trolls making fun of her noticeable baby weight.

Here's her Instagram post:

Dear Instagram trolls, body shamers, and the men and woman who think it's ok to comment on my weight: I hope that you don't have children. And if you do, I hope you teach them about kindness and acceptance. I hope they learn that it isn't ok to make fun of people or call people names. I hope one day YOU learn what it takes to be a parent. A kind, selfless parent. A working parent. A parent that puts themselves in someone else's shoes. Maybe you can't get it through your thick fucking skull, but nursing a baby for a year (and pumping in a van between takes, in the dead of summer in Georgia) is a lot of work, determination, and scheduling. So before you decide to make a comment about my chest being "too large" or how "fat" I've become, just know that this little girl got the best start to life. I wouldn't have changed it for a second. I would've gladly continued to eat enough calories to produce milk for her little bones to grow. Also, grow the fuck up. Your mother should be ashamed for raising such a judgmental bully. I'm sure she knows how "courageous" you must be for trolling and hiding behind your Iphone and computers. P.s. I would LOVE to see any man or woman give birth to a baby, nurse the baby, and then work 17 hour days and NAIL their own stunts. P.s.s. Be kind to each other. We need it now more than ever. ❤️✌️

Are u still shrugging?

I would have thought if the old lady wanted her dead, they just would have killed her without creating the ruse that they were letting her go. They dont appear to hide the fact they they will kill strangers on site. Don't see why she would be any different, unless it was for the grandaughters sake.

1. There's another group close by

2. They've dealt with Neegan and ran away

3. They have a stockpile of weapons

4. This group knows how to use said weapons

5. They have a great system for alerting the group of potential danger

6. They are reasonable

Eventually, Tara will have to confide in Rick about what she knows. If he's willing to hide Maggie and lie about it then why not just leave and go somewhere else. It's not like Neegan is monitoring there every move.

wut? These ladies had as much aim as a 1980s henchman on the A-Team. Even though Negan killed all the men and boys in the group, the women were still smarter than Rick by HIDING their weapons!

You get it. The only other viable option is if the two guards went rogue because they didn't agree with Nanooshka (our whatever her name is). Either way, somebody did not intend for Tara to leave alive.

I'm shocked ratings were so low.

“The Walking Dead” drew its smallest audience in four years Sunday, falling below a 5.0 rating in adults 18-49 for the first time since its third season on AMC.

The episode posted a 4.9 in the 18-49 demographic, the lowest since episode 6 of Season 3 on Nov. 18, 2012 (also a 4.9).

Sunday’s installment was 42 percent lower than the premiere in adults 18-49.

Very clumsy, and just not that interesting of a reveal. Seemed to me that it was obvious. Messing with the timeline so it was at the end of the episode was just unnecessarily cumbersome.

Oh, I get all that. I was only saying that there was no need to make it non-linear. A linear version of the same story would have been just as effective at providing the above information.

6. They are reasonable
 what? They were going to kill her in the woods anyway after all that. How is that reasonable? The one girl, whatever her name was, sure. She was reasonable. But not the group.

I usually like the standalone episodes cause it develops a character more in-depth, but this was just bad. We learn nothing more about Tara for the 70 minutes, other then she is now a smart-ass comedian.

I like the idea for the society Tara encountered, but they do nothing to develop it so you just don't care. When Beth encountered the Hospital, it developed it for a few episodes so you got invested in it.

I wonder if this is more Kirkman or Gimple, but this show is really going off the rails this season.

Keep in mind that those ratings are a reflection of previous episodes -- not this one per se. Wonder how bad next week will be.

I usually balk at all the complaints in these threads, as I've pretty consistently enjoyed The Walking Dead, but this episode was absolutely awful in every way. I understand what they were trying to do in the context of the overall story, but they could have executed it far more effectively and in a much shorter amount of time. Ugh. What a complete stinker.

I think he means that they're not evil psychos who raid, rob and kill people. They mind their own business and just want to be left alone.
I can't remember where the group was at the time, but Rick wanted to do the same thing, kill some kid who stumbled across them for no other reason than he knew about them and where they were. I think it was the farm.

People are realizing how bad this show has gotten in the last few seasons. Premier, filler filler, filler, maybe some content, filler, filler, filler, midseason-break. Midseason premier, filler, ...

While true it may have followed that pattern to some extent the past few seasons, this season has taken it to a whole new level that cannot be reasonably denied by even the most loyal fans.
