His wife is dead, but he still controls the Eire. Marching in to rescue Winterfel and then marrying a newly widowed Sansa would give him the North as well. I figure that is almost half the kingdom under his power.

So... The Broken Man of the title is the Hound, but it also applies to Theon. Then sort of Jamie (hand) and Jon (murdered).

Obviously Littlefinger's going to help but I still don't understand what his end game is. If he marches this forces against the Boltons, that's open opposition to the crown, and I don't see a scenario where he gets to sit on the Iron Throne anyway. If he had planned on marrying Sansa and becoming head of the Stark house and maybe marching South, why give her over to Ramsey in the first place, it didn't seem like their alliance achieved anything for him.
In the current scenario, he has to hope Rickon gets killed b/c Sansa isn't even next in line for Winterfell. She's third behind Bran, and Rickon.
Also, book difference not referenced in the show...
