His wife is dead, but he still controls the Eire. Marching in to rescue Winterfel and then marrying a newly widowed Sansa would give him the North as well. I figure that is almost half the kingdom under his power.

So... The Broken Man of the title is the Hound, but it also applies to Theon. Then sort of Jamie (hand) and Jon (murdered).

Yeah it makes more sense in the book before they retrofitted Jeyne Poole's story into Sansa.

In the current scenario, he has to hope Rickon gets killed b/c Sansa isn't even next in line for Winterfell. She's third behind Bran, and Rickon.

Also, book difference not referenced in the show...
Spoiler:
After he finds out Bran and Rickon are "dead", with Sansa trapped in Kings Landing and Arya missing, Rob formally named Jon heir. Then he got killed at the Twins.
