Look at the daytime TV shows. They stay on the air for decades. Some hosts stay with the shows for decades.
Don't tell that to Queen Latifah, Bonnie Hunt, Bethenny Frankel, Katie Couric, and Meredith Viera who all had daytime talk shows cancelled.

Meredith Viera still has a daytime talk show.

I do get tired of rich famous people acting childish over nonsense like this.

On the flip side, for all we know she might be angry over the fact that he got this sweet deal instead of her. Who knows the real story.

Only about a third of the workforce work weekdays 9-5.

Is that the same Katie Couric who co-hosted Today for 15 years?

I'm kind of on Ripa's side here especially if she was completely in the dark before the announcement. Strahan should have at least given her a heads up about negations.

Why? If you were looking to negotiate a better deal/position from your employer would you tell your co-workers?

If it will profoundly affect that one person, whose name is shared with you on the show, then yes. I'm just saying a heads up that you are looking at other opportunities would be professional. This (to me) would fell like Penn dumping Teller for Chris Angel five minutes before a show.

But a lot of people think then can join the daytime talk business and become successful but most of them fail.

Steve Harvey might be the only new guy the last couple of years who has been successful.

Penn and Teller have been working together for over 35 years, and pretty much their entire professional careers. Not exactly the same situation as being co-hosts for 4 years on a show that is only one part of his professional commitments.

He was told by the president of the ENTIRE COMPANY not to talk about it. If you work for Disney and Bob Iger tells you not to do something, you don't do it.

But it's that strange? Were they that afraid of Ripa? Or does Iger know the show doesn't have a future and wants to kept Strahan in the family and drop Ripa.

Live with Kelly and whoever is a money making machine. Iger would have to be completely insane to want it off the schedule or even displaced from its time-slot.

Re: Michael Strahan Quits ‘Live’ To Join ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’

For all the posters who are confused or critical about Ripa's reaction, think about it this way.

Regis and Kathie Lee started working together in June 1985. She left the show July 2000. 15 years.

Ripa became Regis' co-host in February 2001. 7 months of auditioning Kathie Lee's replacement.

Regis left November 2011. Regis and Kelly had 10+ years together.

Strahan joined Kelly in September 2012. 10 months of auditioning Regis' replacement.

Now it is April 2016. Ripa is 45 and has been on the show 15 years. She has her retirement on the horizon.

But now, instead of coasting along for a few more years in a comfortable place, she's going to have to go through months of the audition process. And there is no telling whether her new co-host will have chemistry or what kind of person he will be to deal with everyday. And there's just the question of whether the show will maintain its popularity.

Her life has just been thrown into a turmoil that will last at least a year.

Because people on TV shows walk in the door when the show goes on the air and walk out the moment it is over.

I hope that in your life, every time you bring up some complaint about your work, the people around you shut you down immediately by reminding you that you are being paid, and so your quality of life concerns about how happy you are at work or if work is stressful or that uncertainty about your job has you worried are meaningless and should never be voiced.

I work in TV news. I know anchors who come in for makeup, do their show, and leave. I would not put it past Kelly Ripa, she doesn't strike me as the "go the extra mile" type.

For 15 million a year I would count my blessing, shut up, and do my job.

Yeah she was hot back when she had some meat on her bones. Now she looks like a lizard.

From all accounts, that's pretty close to the truth about their schedule. Get in about an hour before for hair, makeup and wardobe, go over the notes for that day, meet up with the co-host about 10 minutes before air, do the show, and leave shortly afterwards.

So the work day has increased over 110% in just one post.

I just want to be clear on at what salary per year have you crossed the line where you are no longer allowed to have an emotional reaction to anything that happens to you at work.
