It's a good thing they are keeping him locked up. He has probably killed three or four women in the surrounding counties while he's been behind bars.

No shock there. The AG had no choice. He's between a rock and a rock. It'll be interesting if he's out by mid-December. Those interviews will be epic.

He was to be released by December if the state didn't appeal, which they did. Now he'll be in custody until after the appeal, although his lawyers did just file a motion requesting that he be released on bond during the appeals process:

Making a Murderer's Steven Avery to Be Interviewed by Dr. Phil Next Week
TVLine - Dr. Phil interviews Steven Avery

Avery, who was the subject of Netflix’s Emmy-winning true-crime documentary series, will call into the daytime talk show as part of a two-part episode airing Oct. 3 and 4

Since Avery is still in prison, he can’t appear on the show in person, but his new fiancée Lynn Hartman will sit down with Dr. Phil and discuss her relationship with Avery.

CNN - 'Making a Murderer's' Brendan Dassey released from prison

(CNN)A Wisconsin federal judge has ordered that Brendan Dassey, one of the subjects of the hit Netflix docuseries "Making a Murderer," be released from prison on his own recognizance pending the appeal of his 2007 murder conviction.

Just making sure the details are clear and I'm not misreading that article:

His conviction was overturned.

The State is appealing the overturn ruling.

He isn't exactly "free" - rather he was RORed for the duration of the appeal.

Hey, that's still way better than prison.

He's got a lot of Wrestlemania DVDs to work through in the meantime.

And considering how unlikely the prosecution will win an appeal, he's likely not returning to prison.

According to GMA, the State actually plans on retrying him if they lose their appeal.

Wonder if Trump will pardon him? ;)

They're also unlikely to win a retrial, since the only "evidence" they had on him was the "confession," which has been thrown out.

I don't disagree. I'm wondering one of two things, either "What is there that we don't know?" OR "Just how damned stupid/egotistical is the State's Attorney?"

Appeals court denied his release. This poor kid is getting as screwed as the West Memphis Three.

As I said months ago, the Justice Dept. needs to take over. WI is violating the shit out of this kid's civil rights. There is ZERO chance of a conviction. No physical evidence. No confession. They have nothing. This is pure save face action and its bullshit.

This was the Seventh District, Feds, that denied his release. I agree with you, and read the judges case citations for his release, unfortunately of the 4 cases he cited, 3 convictions were upheld. They were also pretty ugly interrogations.

^Wow. It'll be interesting to see where this goes, now.

That is, assuming they'll accept that this evidence justifies a new trial.

No problem.

Cliff notes: Two members of the family have, or are, spending time in jail over this case. Now lawyers believe it's the other brother Bobby, who testified against Avery, that actually planned and committed the murder. In short: Probably the worst police work I've ever heard of in my life.

Man, this case. Can't believe Brendan Dassey is still in prison. Thought he was cleared for a new trial months ago. What a shitshow this case is.

The second I saw that in the show my spidey sense told me he was involved.

To be clear, the defense lawyers also implicate the ex-boyfriend. They're more about establishing reasonable doubt about their client than trying to definitively prove who the "real killer" was.

Yea, they have quite a few point to consider regarding evidence in the case. I know the Netflix show was heavily slanted regarding the police toward Avery and his family, but I wonder if they investigated the boyfriend at all.

I'm also curious about the "new witness". I believe that witness came forward in 2016 regarding the car.
