Watched the first episode and it didn't do much for me. Seemed like a grungy Firefly lite. Too dark, too many characters, too much going on. Sort of fell flat.
I might let the episodes pile up on my DVR and watch them all in one big luau.

The story is definitely a grower. I'd say stick with it and watch how it plays out. I agree that it shot out of the gate a bit quickly and didn't give the characters enough time to really take hold. A problem with the book as well. But the story is a total keeper.

I was bored by much of the second episode, sadly. I understand that it's a staple of space shows but I've never been a big fan of what we saw this episode. A failing life support system on an isolated ship and they have to risk everything by fixing something on the outside hull.

I didn't have any expectations got no into this, but was hooked by the first episode. I found the Earth plot a bit boring, but I suspect that will expand into something.
I'm glad they didn't wrap up some of the stories in an episode or two. It's clear they have a larger story to tell and are taking their time to lay the groundwork. That said, I think a few characters need to start figuring out some truths to move the story along. I do like the seudo cliffhangers though.
I recognized a few actors, but not enough to take me out of anything. So far I'd say this feels like a cross between Firefly, Battlestar Gallactica, and Babylon 5 (sans aliens). Graphics and productions values are good too, so that's an added bonus.
Maybe it will turn out to flop, but so far I'm enjoying it through 2 episodes and am tempted to watch a few more early through on demand.
I haven't read the books, but a few guesses:

So far so good. Have read all the books and it was nice to see the visualization of the first book. I like how they show the elongated Belters. My wife hasn't read the books but is enjoying it as well.
Interested to see whether they plan to complete book 1 in 10 eps or just a chunk of it?

After the 1st 3 eps these are my impressions as well. Too many characters and storylines introduced at once for the audience to get to know or get invested with any of them. So far the stories dont seem very interesting either.

I watched the first two episodes and I had no idea what was going on with some of the characters/storylines. I bailed.

As for the show, I'll have to watch it when I'm more awake. I tried to watch it, but kept falling asleep.

This show seems very tedious to watch.
Sorta like trying to watch a lousy combination of Revolution + Falling Skies + generic space opera. Easy to get distracted or fall asleep while watching.
In contrast, even the slow moving Stargate Universe was more exciting than this show.

I've only seen the first three episodes but tedious so far sounds correct. It hasn't been announced but Syfy is almost 100% certain to "renew" this show for a second season, they have sunk too much money into it to cancel after one season.
My eyes glaze over whenever the senior female leader from Earth has a scene. That entire sub-plot may be laying the groundwork for future developments but it reminds me of the dull political machinations from Lucas' Star Wars prequels.
This is a show that is being too ambitious with its scope in these early episodes. Game of Thrones can get away with that because of more interesting story lines and expanded time per episode.

Didn't see the twist at the end of episode 3 coming.
Looks like there is a 4th party at play that nobody saw coming.
Not particularly enjoying the UN lady. She can't seem to carry the scenes.
Would like to know what is going on with the missing lady. Haven't seen her since the premier.

We've watched the first three episodes tonight and find it pretty intriguing. We know nothing of the books, so we had no expectations going in, just looking for something a little different to watch.

Renewed for a 13 episode second season that will air in early 2017.
Mainly due to the amount of special effects.

Episode four was pretty strong with a great space soldier battle. I simply don't care for a couple of the story lines, which poses a problem. The episodes move with much better pacing if you skip over any scene involving Earth's leadership.
While I like the idea of Thomas Jane's smarmy detective, they've saddled him with a deadly boring mystery that has gone nowhere through four episodes.

I've watched the first three episodes, and I'm hooked. This is one of the better sci-fi shows that's been produced in a long time -- decent writing, a strong cast and impressive production.

The detective story is definitely going somewhere, but I agree they could have made it a bit more compelling early on. The show is going for an understated tone when it really needs to embrace its epic scope.
