Yeah I don't get the lazy plotting / naked manipulation complaint either.
Naked manipulation -- was the killing done strictly for shock value, or did it further expose the depths of grim desperation and single-minded fanaticism to which Stannis had devolved?
And lazy plotting? I suppose that would involve perhaps a last minute reinforcement from the Tullys or the Karstarks or some other House we hadn't seen all season but suddenly made a triumphant return out of nowhere.
I think this is more a matter of Hiro11 just not liking what happened, period. Which is fine -- I didn't "like" it either, it was heartbreaking -- but it made PERFECT SENSE for the world the producers and GRRM had conjured up.

Naked manipulation? Look, if you not being manipulated then the show/book/food/sex/whatever isn't doing its job right. Heck, the fact that you got so worked up over a character getting killed means they did a great job.
Had it really been lazy plotting your comment should have been "I was bored and didn't care that she died." THAT would have been an insult that carries real weight. Everything you said is the exact opposite.

Agree with everyone else, I don't see how it was lazy plotting in particular at all. It actually feels like something carefully put together and projected years ago in previous seasons, and it served a legitimate purpose in the show.
A better excuse would just be to say "an innocent child I liked died horribly and it bothered me" and leave it at that as the other reasons given don't make much sense.

Guys, can we all just agree that there hasn't been enough naked manipulation this season? Stupid no nudity clauses.

Here is where I don't get some people. Are you pissed off they killed a kid? A brave, smart, and kind kid who grew up from a place of suffering and neglect, and still managed to cling to her innocence and goodness... and then brutally taken away from us to die horrifically. That piss you off? Great. The show did its job. Good job writers, it worked!
Now you all hate Stannis. We need a good bad now that we don't have Joffrey. Sure we got the Boltons, but they are not really a threat. We got that Zombie King, but we can't get into their head so they end up being more of a natural disaster type of antagonist. We needed someone to hate.
There are not too many ways to get us to hate him really. He's not a sadist like Joffrey, or a conniving snake like Cersie, he has to stand out as his own character. He's a zealot, and a dictator. He's not without honor, which makes him stand out from the rest. His talks with Jon and his kid humanized him, but also made us start to like him. And liking him sealed his daughter's fate. He needed to betray his best friend, betray his family, and betray us to get is to hate him. So the show gave us that. Now we want him to lose. We need him to lose. And we'll tune in to make sure he does. Bravo.

This is horrible, and I don't ever want to read these threads again. I'll read next week's thread, of course, but after that I'm out!

Least we forget Shireen was a prisoner, kept in an upper tower cell, even when she was home. Her father, Stannis, took her along and she got to see some of the world before her untimely death. So dark dank walls or go out in a blaze of glory, helping to lead your subjects on to greater victory - you choose.

Myrcella could replace Cersei and still die before her. However, I doubt Cersei's daughter is her replacement. Technically Cersei has already been replaced since she is not the queen.
