Game of Thrones (S5E09) - "The Dance of Dragons" - 6/7/15

How many times does it have to be said (in the show, books, and this message board) that they are ineffective in city type environments. Their strength comes in open battle, something that has already been established as the fighting norm. This also isn't something out of the realm of reality as every warring nation has had to transition to new tactics as the enemy changed.

Relevant to this thread:

Again guys, it's not the content that's bothering me. It's the naked manipulation and lazy plotting.

That's probably the case for most. Hopefully Stannis will take out Bolton, then a weakened Stannis will take out the zealots in Kings Landing. Then its clear-sailing (flying?) for a dragon-fueled Dany victory.

How crazy do you think they are? The actress is sipping a skinny latte somewhere in Hollywood as I type. It was only her stand in who was burnt alive.

Here is where I don't get some people. Are you pissed off they killed a kid? A brave, smart, and kind kid who grew up from a place of suffering and neglect, and still managed to cling to her innocence and goodness... and then brutally taken away from us to die horrifically. That piss you off? Great. The show did its job. Good job writers, it worked!
Now you all hate Stannis. We need a good bad now that we don't have Joffrey. Sure we got the Boltons, but they are not really a threat. We got that Zombie King, but we can't get into their head so they end up being more of a natural disaster type of antagonist. We needed someone to hate.
There are not too many ways to get us to hate him really. He's not a sadist like Joffrey, or a conniving snake like Cersie, he has to stand out as his own character. He's a zealot, and a dictator. He's not without honor, which makes him stand out from the rest. His talks with Jon and his kid humanized him, but also made us start to like him. And liking him sealed his daughter's fate. He needed to betray his best friend, betray his family, and betray us to get is to hate him. So the show gave us that. Now we want him to lose. We need him to lose. And we'll tune in to make sure he does. Bravo.

My anger is simply with the character, Stannis. Not the show/writers for what they did. Stannis for killing his own daughter, who was a very likeable character. There's no way I'd stop watching over this.
I perhaps should have said "Fuck you Stannis, and see you next week!"

Brienne is overdue for a win. My guess would be either she kills one or both Boltons to rescue Sansa, or Stannis kills the Boltons, then Brienne kills Stannis, and/or Melisandre.

BTW, why were the Sons of the Harpy killing the bystanders in the stadium? You'd think that would turn the people against them too.

In contrast, Roose and Ramsey Bolton are both psychopaths and feel no remorse for any of the terrible things they do. They actual enjoy torturing people, particularly Ramsay, and other acts of cruelty.
It's no contest - Stannis is much, much better than the Boltons.

The Sons of the Harpy story line is one of the least explained -- and thus least believable -- story lines in the show. So many questions about who they are, how are they able to do as they do, etc.

Definitely. Stannis will sometimes do terrible things but he'll feel some remorse and only go through with it because he thinks it's for the greater good. I don't think Stannis enjoys doing terrible things.

Had it really been lazy plotting your comment should have been "I was bored and didn't care that she died." THAT would have been an insult that carries real weight. Everything you said is the exact opposite.

That's gold.
