http://media.comicbook.com/uploads1/...-1--136773.jpg

Written by David Benioff & D.B. Weiss; directed by Miguel Sapochnik.

Episode 7 of 10

Ratings are going to drop because of all the people bailing after last week. :D;)

Sweet! No break for Memorial Day weekend. I predict all the people that 'bailed' after last week's episode will be watching tonight. :D

So it seems like Tyrion has been a prisoner for half the series, and we've seen Jamie held prisoner before... but is this the first time we've seen Cersei held?

Bad times for the Lannister siblings... all three held at once.

I guess the whole point of the sand snakes scene was to see boobies?
Not that I'm complaining...

Glad it was the cute pixie-cut one, and not the tough-talking one who looks like the before photo in a proactive commercial.

Good episode, but it was a bit dumb to give Bronn the antidote in the exact scene where we find out he was poisoned.

Huge return to form this week. Seeing Tyrion meet Dany was perfect. The scene between Oleana and the High Sparrow was truly great. Seeing Cersei get what she had coming was so nicely set up and knocked down. Damn that sand snake is hot. Damned good TV.

Damn you, Reek.
Farewell Aemon.
A little too convenient for Ghost to show up right then.
Melisandre has some competition for best titties.

This episode had a whole lot of elements that I don't care a lot about, but then seeing Cersei get hers more than made up for all of it. That was perfection.

I am glad Sam & Ghost helped avoid yet another rape this week. We need to at least go for every other week please.

They were pretty spectacular though for some reason Carice seems to get hotter each year.

They had better not actually do what is suggested with Shireen. I could not handle that. Especially since she seems to play a really large role in the books to come.

Fighting pit was convenient, but good to have Dany and Tyrion together. My guess :
Spoiler:
Dany tries to feed Tyrion to Rheagal and Viseryion but one of them chooses Tyrion and they do not hurt him leading Dany to trust him

End was great and pretty close to the books.

Alistair Thorne is maybe the most improved character from the books to the TV show. He has tremendous depth. They are also setting up
Spoiler:
the event
a little better I think.

Solid return to form after an off episode last week.

I wish Benioff and Weiss had advised GRRM on how to quickly resolve a boring part of the story with Dany and Tyrion.
Spoiler:
Their way is much better than Dany moping around her palace and everyone outside the city shitting themselves to death because of dysentery.

Lots of good this week!

*Damn that Reek for giving up the old lady/sansa. Theon has to redeem himself, otherwise the whole goings on between Ramsey/Sansa/Theon was just a waste of time

*Nice to see Tyrion/Dany meet. Could make a great team.

*Man, I feel bad for Sam, like Thorne said, he doesn't have anymore friends left, even guys like Grenn/Pyp etc are long gone as well.

*Sam getting Gillys goodies after 'stepping' up for her honor, nice. Also Ghost with the Save, I guess Sam still has some allies.

*Loved the Queen of Thornes. Now her and Little Finger are going to be working together.

*Feel bad for Tommen & Margery. Cersei got what was coming to her, what the heck did she expect was going to happen?

*Freaking knew it that Melisandre was going to try and sacrifice Shireen, When Shireen/Stannis had that bonding moment, Game of Thrones just loves to sucker punch you right in the nuts by doing something like that.

*Sand snake breasts, Pretty solid, although not sure why she gave the antidote to Bronn? Was it a game to them?

*Sansa grabbing the cork screw? Looked like a potential weapon, good girl. Also Sansa trying to stir up trouble between Ramsay and Roose, playing the game.

Josh-da-man 05-25-15 03:35 AM

Re: Game of Thrones (S5E07) -- "The Gift" -- 5/24/15

Dani got a set of infamous L-shaped bedsheets.

And, yeah, GRRM had a lot of trouble with what to do with Dani. It's allegedly what held up the books for so long, the "Myreenese knot."

Cersei found herself caught in her own trap. She really isn't as clever as she fancies herself.

Doesn't look good for Sansa at the moment; her saviour was flayed and crucified, but Brienne and Pod are still out there. Presumably something is going to come of that. And Sansa has already met Brienne, so she knows she's on the level.

Some nice scenes between Cersei and the Sparrow, Olenna and the Sparrow, and Margaery and Cersei. I actually quite like Margaery -- she's certainly a schemer and social climber, but she's also rather guileless for someone so ambitious.

And the short-haired Sand Snake (Tyene?) went from my least favorite to my favorite.

Dany might try to feed Tyrion to her dragons, I figured that once they met they might get on nicely. If she does give him over to her dragons, it might be a good opportunity to reveal that tyrion is fireproof and her brother. "You're no son of mine."

One thing I don't get is how Ramsay figured out that it was the old lady who was trying to help Sansa. All Sansa said to Theon/Reek was her family has friends in the North and all she has to do is give a signal with the candle in the tower so they will come rescue here. That alone doesn't give away the old lady because Sansa could've made that plan with Northerners before she even got to Winterfell.

And what was the object that Sansa picked up from the castle wall when she was outside with Ramsay the Bastard?

Cersei is finally learning the hard way that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

(Although because it's Cersei, despite getting caught in her own web she probably still won't learn that lesson.)

My crazy Shireen theory...

(Contains a book spoiler, so don't click unless you know how the novel "A Dance with Dragons" ends...)

(Sorry, no way around this...)

Spoiler:

Melisandre told Stannis that the only way to defeat the Boltons and take Winterfell was to sacrifice Shireen.

But there's more to it than that.

Jon Snow will be killed by his own men for trying to make peace with the Wildlings. Might be the kid who killed Ygritte, might be Thorne. Doesn't matter. He'll be killed.

Melisandre will then sacrifice Shireen to resurrect Jon. Since Jon is/was dead, he has been released from his oath to the Nights Watch. "Now his watch has ended." Stannis, who may or may know what has just happened, will then legitimize Jon Snow and he will then become Jon Stark, heir to Winterfell.

With a Stark leading Stannis' army into Winterfell, there's now way the Boltons will be able to keep Winterfell once a male Stark returns to Winterfell.

It is a three headed Dragon, so there are 3 riders of the Dragons. It is widely believed Tyrion is one and that would be an efficient way to establish that.

Good ep. last night, but no performance of "Rastafarian Targareyn". Disappointed. :(

It's a damn shame Martin doesn't know how to get the point like D&D. Book spoiler question:

Spoiler:
Did anyone else who read the book get the impression that Jon Snow's death was something of a fake out? I remember the second book lead us to believe that Theon Greyjoy was dead , but we later learned he wasn't. I don't really buy the whole sacrificing of Shireen to resurrect Jon . Resurrection really doesn't fit this show aside from the Others and Thoros ....okay maybe it does. Also, looks like Mance is officially dead on the show. :(

Book spoiler reply

Spoiler:
Possible, but in the books there are a lot of hints that Shireen will be VERY important in the end game of the story. She is a healed girl with Greyscale and not a Stone Man, and Greyscale will be important to the war against the White Walkers. Also, it is hinted several times in the book that Shireen may actually be who resides on the Iron Throne at the end of the series. She is in some ways the rightful heir once Stannis dies. I do not think they will go there in the story on TV, and I do think that there is quite a good chance she is as important in the show as in the books. She is the one character in the stories truly good at heart. If they do sacrifice her, I am not sure I could handle it, she is one of my favorite characters both in the books and in the show. I do think it is misdirection. Maybe the sacrifice is actually Melisandre.

There's also foreshadowing in the books that she'll be burned. I mean she's the only person with kingsblood that Mel has access to right now, so the possibility is there.

Book spoiler response

Spoiler:
Almost everyone assumes it is some sort of fake out, mostly that Meilsandre will resurrect him (she knows his lineage and importance in the books) - she says something like "when I look into the flames now all I see is Snow", and all the Baeric Dondarrion and LS stuff was a prelude to his resurrection, which will also free him from his oath. Many think he is the "ICE" in a Song of Ice and Fire, and ultimately one of the three Dragonriders. Tyrion being the other very likely one.
