They probably could have completed the song title "Moves like ..."

Re: Jeopardy! Discussion
I think it's more disappointing than surprising. Sure, if it weren't for the Traveling Wilburys, I wouldn't have been able to pick Bob Dylan out of a lineup as a kid in the 80s. But with the ubiquitous access to music we have now via YouTube, Spotify, etc., you'd like to think that many of today's kids are seeking out great music from the past.

Re: Jeopardy! Discussion
Just for kicks I timed the actual amount of time Jeopardy is on minus commercials and it’s barely 19 minutes from start to end of Final Jeopardy. |

Reminder for tonight:
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...40d37c43a2.jpg The event begins on January 7, 2020, on ABC, marking the first time in 30 years that Jeopardy! has aired on network television. |

Yep, got my DVR set!

Re: Jeopardy! Discussion
Thanks for the heads up. When will it air after tonight? Once a week, few days in a row. Amazingly the website doesn't say

Re: Jeopardy! Discussion
I heard there was supposed to be a special leading up to this. Is that simply the “What is Jeopardy!?” thing from a few days ago?
Edit: looks like it is. Time for a pre-game to the showdown. |
Re: Jeopardy! Discussion
Anyone think Alex might announce his retirement on the final episode of GOAT?
The way it was handled in the special sort of make me think he might. |

Re: Jeopardy! Discussion
About as I expected.
James looks to have lost his advantage when he's going against players with the same knowledge depth, recall, and trigger fingers that he has. He isn't able to dig out the daily doubles and blimp out his score this time. Still did well, though. Also looks like these guys are more likely to ring in on clues they don't know just to keep one of the other two from getting it. Which doesn't seem to be a terribly useful strategy if that's what they're doing. Figured Rutter would fare a bit better; looks like this is down to James and Ken. So far, Ken looks to have the edge if he and Brad can keep James away from the Daily Doubles. |
Re: Jeopardy! Discussion
I loved watching the non-emotion of James versus the over-emotion of Ken. Ken would NOT be a good poker player. ;)
|
Re: Jeopardy! Discussion
Ken is a TV star, not a poker player. He developed that character.

Brad was disappointing. Hope he makes a better run of it in the other matches. I'm hoping for this to run the full length. A final match with all 3 guys having won 2 already would be great. I'll be disappointed if it's a runaway and Ken ends up winning tonight and tomorrow and ending it quickly. |

I was impressed that James was able to do so well without getting any DD's in either game. The only reason Ken won was because he was able to find the DD in Double Jeopardy in the first game and double up. If he didn't get that, I think James wins both games outright.
Either way... still rooting for James! |

Re: Jeopardy! Discussion
I think this contest comes down to which categories are chosen by the producers. Jennings dominated a few favorable categories, much like James dominated a few he knew well. Brad seemed off his game after blowing the double jeopardies early in the contest.
|
Re: Jeopardy! Discussion
Brad just seems slower and that he's lost a step mentally. Maybe he'll pick it up tonight. James would have won if he had gotten one daily double.
|
Re: Jeopardy! Discussion
Brad is still struggling to get a good foothold on the game.
I'm enjoying seeing these 3 go at it even more than I thought I would. |

The way it was handled in the special sort of make me think he might. Trebek: ‘Jeopardy!’ retirement isn’t imminent despite cancer But it also sounds like his health is getting a bit more questionable. |
Re: Jeopardy! Discussion
Wow! Jennings was certainly dominant, and deserved to be the GOAT. I was hoping James would extend the tournament, and shocked that he missed the final.
Brad just couldn't do anything right. Pretty strange to see such a lopsided tournament, at least with respect to Brad. Cost me a beer, too! ;) |
Re: Jeopardy! Discussion
James pushed Ken to make wagers that he might not have done otherwise but truly a clutch performance. Poor Brad but the three contestants and Alex know they are part of something very special. Nice final shot of Brad and James hoisting Ken with his GOAT trophy.

Re: Jeopardy! Discussion
Very impressive job by Ken Jennings. He deserved the title. I liked the rather dramatic ending as well, James would have won the match if he got the Final right so it came down right to the end. Still, I was hoping for James to win this match at least to bring it to a decisive 5th game. Brad was disappointing throughout and it felt like he had no chance against these two guys. It almost feels like he knew he was outmatched so he decided to have fun with it instead.

Yeah, that burn definitely made me laugh.

Re: Jeopardy! Discussion
For being only 4 days, that was a great battle between Ken and James. My jaw dropped when James got FJ wrong. Really thought they were heading to day 5, which would have been epic.

Re: Jeopardy! Discussion
This was great. That last episode Final Jeopardy was tense. Loved the overall banter and the all-in hand motions from Ken.
And I got some triple stumpers, so I can feel good  |
Re: Jeopardy! Discussion
that final jeopardy was a little less tense for me because I'd noticed that was the last episode my DVR was set to record so I was pretty sure since Thursday when Ken got his 2nd and only 1 more episode scheduled he was going to take it.

Re: Jeopardy! Discussion
Yeah, I heard people got somewhat spoiled by that.
