Re: The Flash (S1E21) -- "Grodd Lives" -- 5/5/15

First episode I didn't really like. Iris was super whiny and annoying. Barry was too apologetic. As someone mentioned before, not being a comic reader I just could not buy into Grodd at all. Whole thing came across as dumb. Did not buy Joe being one of the guards of the gold. Iris walked into Star Labs last week, and I thought that was a big plot hole. Even if she did not suspect she would have walked into Flash unmasked at some point. Definitely a breather episode, that was maybe more comic fan service than an episode that pushed the story along.

Did Wells turn the particle accelerator back on with that key he built?

I don't think he will save his mom, but they might be able to find a way to save Wells and his wife, so that they keep the Star Labs dynamic. That would be my guess.

Yes, Wells was turning Star Labs' particle accelerator back on line.

That was a good point about Iris waltzing into Star Labs. Apparently a billion-dollar research laboratory has no security despite having a meta-human prison in its basement. Why would Barry walk around in his Flash costume if anyone like Iris could walk into the lab at any given moment? I guess the limits of a 40-minute network episode prevented a better reveal.

my god Iris is an insufferable twat. so annoying. i really hope they figure out a way to tone her shit down. she is the only downside to the show at this point.

Grodd was fucking awesome.

^My feelings, too. Grodd was very cool. Iris is a wet blanket.

He's also super-large. Gorillas are big, but not that big.

Re: The Flash (S1E21) -- "Grodd Lives" -- 5/5/15

Loved Grodd. I'm glad they didn't capture him, so hopefully next time he's smarter and more of an adversary for Barry. Maybe he'll start Gorilla City or something.
Barry getting out of Grodd's mind control was pretty clichéd, but he looked awesome. He must have cost a big chunk of the budget.

I'm so glad Iris finally knows. But she really is the most annoying character. I get she's mad at Barry. and Joe. and Eddie. but always complaining and being a downer. ugh.

I'm a little surprised there was no mention of Gideon. You would think Cisco would at least have mentioned it, since he creates it and the room is pretty much open access. Seems like STAR labs is pretty much open access.

Funny bit with the banana.

Also not a comic book reader (but I do usually look online to get the gist of stuff from the comics), and I also thought Grodd was awesome. I didn't even mind Iris that much, but it was a bit overdone. This show deserves to win some awards for it's SFX work. I'd love to know how it's budget compares to other SFX heavy shows, because I'm sure it's a pittance compared to most.

Barry has to save his mom, or he will be a failure in his own eyes and the audience's. But if he saves his mom, his dad doesn't go to jail, and we lose the Joe/Barry dynamic that is the heart of the show. So I'm thinking Barry saves his mom but his dad dies instead. That way we preserve Joe as the father figure (and maybe set up a romantic interest for him with Ma West as well). Maybe by the series' end Barry will go aback and save them both, with he and Joe acknowledging the sacrifice they'd be making beforehand.

And I also expect "good" Wells to be part of the cast next season.

Has Grodd been in an ep. before now? I only watched the first two eps. of the season and never really found the time for the rest. I saw the pilot were it showed his broken cage.

In a previous ep. he killed two sewer workers but they only showed him as a shadow.

There was a quick shot of Grodd in the final seconds of an episode a few weeks back.

There was a quick scene of the Reverse Flash talking to Grodd in the sewers some weeks back.

Re: The Flash (S1E21) -- "Grodd Lives" -- 5/5/15

Why is Barry walking around in the sewers with Joe and Cisco wearing only street clothes?
He should been in the FLASH suit and ready for action.
Its drives me NUTS in these TV shows and movies when the hero takes his mask off.
Only because we can't clearly see his pretty boy face and well coif hair.

Grodd was Cool. Glad he escape to menace the Flash next season.

I thought that while the episode was Iris heavy, it's understandable that she we get so much screen time after she finds out. I also thought that the actress did some of her best work. I know it's hard to deal with the Iris drama, but I think she's getting better at acting it out, and the writers are doing better for her.

I don't get the Iris hate, personally. In a different television era it would have taken three seasons for Iris to have figured out Barry was the Flash. I think the problem is that we really haven't gotten Iris's handle on her feelings from her own perspective. They should have made Caitlin her close female friend or something.

So Grodd committed suicide at the end there? He is climbing up a tall building then dives for the camera. Stupid monkey, you can't grab a camera that must have vanished when the shot cut. So Grodd fell hundreds of feet to his death.

If it was the Smallville era at least six years. That got old so long ago I am glad to see it not be a thing on these newer shows. Also not sure why she gets so much hate. Not perfect yet not that bad.

I wasn't impressed by this episode. Grodd was alright. I just hate how they don't get imaginative w/ the Flash and his powers. He's really generic, beyond personality, w/ his abilities. Even his smarts are dumbed down.

For me, The Iris hate is that she's a stupid bitch. Also... she's a crappy journalist. Classic Lois vs. TV Iris West? Hell of a fight for stupid bitch. I think Lois edges her out though cuz of the eras she worked in.

Much like stvn[insert number here] should stop watching Nolan movies, you should stop watching this show. Your complaints are already on a template. This show is clearly not for you.

Except for two episodes where she pissed me off, I haven't hated Iris and I'm cool with her eventually getting together with Barry. As for this episode, I got her anger. It echoed what Eddie warned all along about how keeping her in the dark was not the right decision.
