I really liked when they kept him under the hood though. It was spooky and ominous, especially with his immense size and big hands. And the glowing red eyes were especially spooky. Sometimes, less is more.

The master seriously looks like a rotten Muppet with down syndrome (and I don't mean that to be disrespectful as my sister suffers from that).

Well, you have to realize, and I'm sure it's coming up in the next episodes, that the body The Master currently inhabits isn't that of a normal or normal looking person. If you say he looks a certain way that means that the person looked that way as well before being infected.

The actor has kind of a downs look to him as well.

I've seen stills of this now after watchign the episode and now I see what people are complaining about. For the brief moment it was showed on screen it doesn't look so bad. But when you can check out the still shot if looks pretty bad. Indeed like a Muppet with downs.

I could only find one picture of The Master. Upon further inspection he looks like a cross between Nosferatu, an Orc, and a skull. His middle fingers are actually talons and nails are as strong as stone.

That's just the face/head at rest, because when the jaw opens up it looks crazier.

I think the Nosferatu homage is pretty obvious, IMO. The body The Master is inhabiting is actually a man with gigantism. The very first few pages of the book explain his backstory, as a human, it handicapped him physically, but the vampirism made him strong and now The Master's chosen body is exceptionally physically powerful.

Spoiler:
The walking stick Setrakian has is actually one of his possessions. The way it's described in the book, it's much to large for a normal-sized person, but when The Master takes it back, it fits him perfectly. I think having him carry around something too large would've made for a cumbersome prop, so they made it the size they did.

While I enjoy background information when requested, and in spoiler tags, there is a lot of stuff being discussed in these threads that hasn't been revealed in the show. Those of us who haven't read the books maybe want to discover it as the show wants to present it. Could anything that hasn't been revealed in the show, please be put into spoiler tags going forward?

The book info should be held back, if possible.

The book info is still no excuse for how stupid and goofy he looks on screen.

I think it is a nod to Nosferatu. The Master's look is about twenty on the list of things needing improvement on this show.

Sorry, it's on first page of the book, since the show didn't lead with it, I thought they might be skipping it.

This is why they actually killed Rick Baker in the last episode. There's been some bad make up in this.

Some of us don't care to read the source material.

I think the designer would have been kicked off of Face-Off.

Hardly. All of the guys doing the special effects make-ups are veterans in the field, worked with GDT in the past and/or for Spectral Motion.

I don't know why you're being all butthurt, homie. Then it's a simple matter that the character design of the master looks goofy as all fuck.

^ Yes but the most goofy thing is still the tentacles coming out of the "vampires'" mouths. I laugh every time, it looks so stupid.

LOl at the morality issues when killing off Sean Astin but killing Matt, the ex-wife's new boyfriend in a much more savage way, that's just kool and the gang.

But yeah in an apocalyptic like crisis, i'd be looking to fuck as well !

To be fair, Astin hadn't yet turned, while Matt was nothing but a beast.

I can't wait to see Fet interact with the vampire hit squad, that would be cool

As for the look of the Master, they should have kept it as less is more. It wasn't terrible terrible but was a bit goofy

Overall this show is looking good

Did you see how bad some of the make up was for Baker's episode? Some of those vamps outside of the gas station mini-mart were awful. Not to mention the terrible shots of the one girl vamp with the long hair played in reverse like a bad kung fu film.

And then the continuity of Eph, when he's got his jacket on as he gets Nora up against the wall and then next thing you know he's not wearing it as they go to the floor to fuck. I mean, really? Where's GDT to oversee these episodes?

Not butthurt but I get that some of you guys hating are what they're calling "grudge watchers." You'll rag on the show but you keep watching every week and then talk shit right after.

That's what I'm confused on.

Well, those in the mart were B & C vamps (background vamps) - they're not as detailed as the "hero" vamps (up in front). I'm not really sure how you came to the conclusion that those were "bad make-ups." Your eye sight must cut through steel like silver through an infected.

Next you're gonna tell me that Bolivar and the vampire hit squad also had shitty make-up.
