I think every guy has had at least one experience where someone strung them along. You always end up feeling stupid afterwards for not noticing all the warning signs and shutting it down sooner. Like the song says: everybody plays the fool sometimes.

Spoiler:
From previous posts, it's obvious that Elise/Chris lasted a minute (as we all suspected, I'm sure). Must have kept her around long enough for his leg to get better.

Re: Bachelor in Paradise
It's a fun show to have in the background whilst doing other things. e.g. i watched the last episode whilst downloading all those leaked nude celeb photos and vids
Anyway the format needs something to break up the couples .
It's really hard for the new people coming into the house
I do think Sarah is a partner of convenience for Robert, he doesn't really like her that way.
Overall aside from the ashley clare thing, there hasn't been much bitchyness

It needs to be the Bachelor Pad... if there's no risk of being thrown out and all you have to do is pretend to be in love or "date" a convenient partner, that's bunk... it's a free months vacation for doing nothing of value.

Yeah, I really don't see why everyone didn't just pick a partner and make a deal from the get-go: you pick me and I'll pick you and we'll both get to stay on vacation for the duration. It's definitely what I would have done under the circumstances. The show really needs a mechanism to force some shuffling.

I think this show was really aimed at women. It was really set up for romance, beautiful setting, great dates, not that much bitchiness or conflict
Overall it has been fun to watch, just needs something shaken up.
If i remember correctly, the format of the old paradise hotel was that the incoming person had immunity from elimination the first week and could choose anyone to pair up with (pairing up meant sharing a bungalow) and then the remaining people would try and pair up with someone from the existing persons going home. People were open about relationships of convenience and factions developed. I think there was an 'originals' group

It was definitely intended for women, everything broadcast on ABC is geared towards women. Disney decided a few years ago they would use ABC to reach women and ESPN to reach male demos. ABC's executives are mostly women.
The original Paradise Hotel was more aimed at men.

Re: Bachelor in Paradise
I think the best thing they have going for them is the setting. They really found a great spot. Usually these shows just rent some tacky McMansion and decorate it with a bunch of gaudy crap. The bungalows they use are more quaint. It actually looks like a place I'd like to vacation at.

Spent a week in the Yucatan last January so I've been getting a kick out of seeing places I visited appear on the show--Tulum (spent three nights there), Valladolid (the tequila shop they visited is fantastic), Chichen Itza, etc. As beautiful in person and super romantic. (Plus, CHEAP.)

I thought the finale was boring especially since half the cast left in the first 30 minutes. I don't think I could ever get engaged to someone after just knowing them for six weeks... I hope they change the format up a bit for season two and maybe add a competition element. I'm also curious to see if Clare and Ashley are cast for season 2.

That ending was laughable. These two idiots get engaged after 4 weeks in paradise?? The entire episode was worthy of being fast-forwarded thru... what authority does Chris think he has when he tells people to leave if they're not going to make it work in the "real world"? Who cares? Nobody wants to watch a perfect couple dote on each other for two hours... we want drama.

Michelle's camera interview about Cody's dick was truly bizarre and came out of nowhere.

Re: Bachelor in Paradise
Another odd comment was when Michelle was talking to her daughter and her kid said "it doesn't matter if he's not cute, as long as he's nice to you"... I gotta believe it was edited to exclude Michelle telling her daughter that's he's not the best looking guy in the world.

The way they got rid of all the dead weight was super-contrived, but it made sense that they'd focus on the pairs that actually had a chance of sticking together.
Thought the visit from past success stories was great.
Really enjoyed that Cody won over Michelle. Was rooting for him during Andi's season (even though he had zero shot of beating out the other guys), so pretty cool to see his earnestness and decency pay off. (But yeah, it sounded like Michelle had taken a dig at his looks when she was on the phone with her mom.) LOL'd at her comments about his prowess. And was cool seeing that final shot of Cody with her daughter. As a single father myself, I know how big a moment that was for them.
Sarah should have pressed Robert more on the jeans thing. Although she's probably better off as he was the blandest person on the show.
Can't see Marcus and Lacy lasting, either due to his crazy-neediness or because she's not going to age well at all.
Looking forward to the next installment. With some tweaks (less stunt casting of "villains", please) this could be on par with its parent shows.

Re: Bachelor in Paradise
I'd read spoilers so I knew it'd happen, but I was still saying "no way" through the whole thing.
I'm pretty sure she was on the phone with her daughter, not her mother. Her daughter was impressively mature for her age.
You know, I may have actually LOL'd myself. I know I at least smiled with my wife. It was so out of character for the Bachelor franchise to have something so... direct. Even Sarah's comments were pretty direct for this franchise.
Agreed. But two things:
1) She has asked people to leave him alone since SHE's the one who jumped to conclusions, and she regrets doing that (see her twitter feed).
2) It always baffles me when people live in the same city and make like if it doesn't happen during the timeframe of whatever show they're on, it can't happen. Sarah can pick up the phone at any time. As was said on the show, they live 10 minutes away from each other.
Define lasting. Last long enough to get married? Last long enough to make it to a 50-year anniversary? Because Lacy not aging well certainly seems like something that won't be an issue for some time. Anyway, they've said they don't see getting married any sooner than a year as they, "Want to do it right." That in itself was surprising to me. It must have happened when they got back to the real world and had their family and friends saying, "You did what?!"). The way they were going, I was expecting, "Save this date" cards.
For me, it's better than the parent shows in one way: There isn't one all-powerful person who has to pretend to like people (s)he doesn't really like and sees no future with. BiP is more like real life. You may have two people interested in you, but you know what? One of the people you're interested in may have two people interested in him/her. Get cracking.
If you watched every other episode, you're doing yourself a disservice. I've skipped some seasons, and I only started watching with Ali's season, but I've never heard conversations like this on this franchise. I mean, Michelle basically said... "Guys with big muscles tend to have small [bleep]s. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it's huge, like the hulk." But there's simply no way I can do the conversation justice. I kid you not that I looked at my wife at least 3 times. I immediately felt conflicted in that I'm glad Michelle has found someone, but that means we don't get to see her on these shows anymore (our loss). She's been comic gold every season she's been on.

I can't see Michelle and Cody staying together. I'm betting she's on the next season.
How old is her daughter, anyway? Some of her comments were kinda over the top with knowing her daughter would be watching...

Perhaps it's nothing her daughter hasn't heard before. Some parents are like that. For instance, I've seen parents let 8 year old kids watch R-rated movies with nary a blink. Nudity. Sex. Violence. Language. The whole shebang. They were otherwise decent people and decent parents. It either didn't occur to them or they didn't believe that sheltering kids is necessary.
