Lestor Holt subbed for Brian last night on the NBC Nightly News. I wonder why lol.
I wonder how the ratings will turn out.
I think NBC wants to give the Music Man a live treatment.

The Neil Meron and Craig Zadan produced 3-hour live musical went up a tenth to 2.4/7 among adults 18-49.
That’s 47% less than The Sound Of Music Live! drew in final nationals on December 5 last year.
As for CBS’ schedule, Two and a Half Men (1.9/6), freshman The McCarthys (1.4/6) and Elementary (1.2/6) all went down sixth tenths. Sitcom Mom (2.0/6) fell 20% from its fast nationals result and 23% from its last original on November 20. The CW’s Reign (0.4/1) went down a tenth from its result of this morning to be even with its last new show two weeks ago.

Apparently, it was Broadway producer Charles Frohman who suggested that a woman should play the role because casting a boy would affect the rest of the children in the ensemble, who "would have to be scaled down in proportion." What's more, English law stated that minors under the age of 14 couldn't work after 9 p.m. As a result, a woman was first cast as Pan in 1904.
So it actually became a tradition born out of necessity.

Watched the whole three hours, though it was growing pretty tiresome by the ninety minute mark. Say what you will about Carrie Underwood's acting last year, but she at least brought energy and emotion to the singing. This felt like I was watching a community theater production with much more elaborate sets and choreography. Allison Williams was adequate as Peter, but lacked any real spark. Too bad they couldn't get Kristen Bell like they originally planned. It seemed like Walken was sleepwalking through the whole broadcast. I know he's 71, but the sword fight at the end was laughably slow.

they needed a big name and a musical that people actual know songs from. Grease with someone like Taylor Swift would be huge.

I think Sound of Music did better since it had a bigger name Carrie Underwood as the lead and the ratings dropped for Peter Pan because of the lack of star power with Allison Williams.

I'd like to see them try Little Shop of Horrors.

But they got Christopher "Softshoes" Walken. A guy who rarely appears on television outside of late night TV talk shows and SNL.

Looks like Fox will do Grease live in late January with Julianne Hough and Vanessa Hudgens. If they get Zac Effron to play Danny Zuko ... It will get the high school musical crowd back.

I agree, I enjoyed Sound of Music with Carrie Underwood much more than this. I just read the news about FOX's latest castings for Grease. If they get other good castings, we could see good ratings for that production. If FOX's Grease production is a success, I wonder if they would try to option something like Rent.
