Their success with getting Cops canceled will certainly embolden the activists to go after procedurals, if they aren't already.

Especially if they can convince enough advertisers to pull out.

You're comparing a fictional scripted show vs. a real life reality show that actually shows Police officers at work. And let's be honest, Cops has been on and off the air for 30+ years. It was way past it's expiration date and most comments I saw said that they had no idea it was still on.

I would be watching the upcoming S.W.A.T. season 4, to see how the writers adapt to addressing issues of police brutality and marginalized communities.

One possible recent precedent, is the show Tribal which is about an indigenous cop working in a big city police department. Interweaved into the generic cop/procedural format, Tribal goes in-depth into the racism, corruption, apathy, etc ... in both in the city police department and reserves.

I guess I'd throw Blue Bloods in there too, it being the most cop-centric show of the bunch, with mostly white characters, even though I really like the show..

On the other side of the coin in light of current events, the less problematic procedural shows renewed for 20-21 might be Magnum PI and maybe MacGyver.

I can see both shows not being drastically modified in their current forms.

So You Think You Can Dance's 17th season cancelled because of the pandemic.

I guess you can't do Zoom dancing.

I do not watch but interesting as I thought maybe they could try to do what American Idol did and have the contestants do their thing via a remote set-up which still let the judges weigh in with their informed opinion of the performances they just viewed. However, AI had the benefit of not having to deal with the entire season being done remotely which is what So You Think would be dealing with so I can appreciate that they decided to sit out the next season in the hopes of maybe getting things up and going again when more people can be in the same room together.

Interesting... ABC has announced that Dancing With The Stars will air this fall, though I haven't seen anything about what kind of changes there may be to the format or production.

Run was cancelled by HBO. The premise had some intrigue, but I wonder if it was too vague. I know it didn’t get me to watch, but maybe I’ll check it out if there isn’t a cliffhanger.

It's not a cliffhanger, per se, but it leaves some things unresolved. If it were a movie, it would need one last scene, -set a bit down the road, -that wrapped things up for the characters and the situations, that put a button on it. If you like the characters, you won't get enough, -if you dislike them, then you won't care.

I don't think it was cancelled, it just wasn't renewed by the conclusion and assumptions were made.

Hmmm ...... SWAT moved from midseason to the fall. (Survivor delayed to 2021).

https://tvline.com/2020/07/14/swat-f...r-delayed-cbs/

Wonder if SWAT season 4 was originally signed up for 13 episodes, like what was done for MacGyver season 4 recently.

Enjoy the competition but Phil not so much - his script repeats itself each time ... Perhaps watch w the sound off? :D

Not a shock since Showtime aired two episodes every week during season 2.

Maybe mentioned in another thread

Netflix cancelled the Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj

Will the old shows still remain on their streaming platform?
