I'll admit that the scene between Donna and her boss went in a direction that I wasn't expecting.

This keeps getting better and better, but I really have doubts it will last past this season.

Really liked this episode, but I do wonder if this gets picked up next year since it gets no buzz. Turn got renewed for another season and debuted with 2.2 million viewers, while this show debuted with 1.8 million. When do they usually decide about a 2nd season?

I'm just going to give this thread a love bump. I'll enjoy the show while it lasts.

I love this show, it's very unique with only Mad Men really dealing with the nuts and bolts of the creative process balanced with the melodrama in a fair way.

I continue to enjoy this show as well, but agree it likely won't get renewed. It's too bad really, as these characters start to get more interesting. Surprisingly, Joe is the least interesting of the bunch.

I'm really enjoying it too, it just seems like a show that doesn't have a lot to buzz about at the moment. I also hope it gets renewed, but I'm not holding my breath.

Re: Halt and Catch Fire (AMC) -- Remainder of Season 1 Thread

I'm confused why they're going with their own OS; not necessarily Cameron's idea, but that they were even doing their own basic OS to begin with.

I thought the whole idea of an "IBM compatible" was so that it could run MS-DOS, and thus be able to run everything MS-DOS can. If they're going with their own OS, they may as well as have not cloned IBM at all.

This episode made some lip service to application compatibility, but it still seems like an odd decision to me.

Barely recognized Annette O'Toole in tonight's episode. The Comdex road trip should be fun.

So it just hit me that Gordon and his wife also played husband and wife in Argo. Guess it makes since since they already had experience playing a character in 80 and the staff knew what to expect.

Really enjoyed last nights episode, can't say that I expected the show to go this direction.

Agreed. I thought I had the season mapped out from early on. Been impressed with where they've chosen to take it.

Last night was the first time I felt like I really wanted a second season to spend more time with the characters.

Re: Halt and Catch Fire (AMC) -- Remainder of Season 1 Thread

Did Cameron mention "the 414s" again in this episode? Because the real, actual hacker group was from Atlanta, and were accordingly called the "404s". I can't imagine more than 20 people watching the show would get the "joke", so I don't get why they felt the need to change it to an area code in Wisconsin.

INNER-GEEK: At least they used an appropriate area code for the time period. Back then, the middle digit of an area code was always 1 or 0. So it's better than 24 and its "1220.933.364.624.1870" IP addresses.

Absolutely incredible episode last night. From the beginning after the first episodes ratings, I've gone into this show treating it like a miniseries and expecting it to be cancelled, but it's really going to bum me out once it finally happens.

I am REALLY enjoying this show, last night's episode was great. I know it's doubtful, but I really hope it goes beyond a first season.

I hope there's 2nd season as well. But if there isn't, I hope things wrap up satisfyingly by the end of this season.

Re: Halt and Catch Fire (AMC) -- Remainder of Season 1 Thread

What a great show, as I liked this episode because this was the first time the 3 leads came together and got along for the good of the company at the end of the show and each showed off their acting chops. But like everyone said, not sure if it makes it to a 2nd season as I don't know anyone from work, friends, or family who is watching this show. Plus its a tough sell to recommend because many people (who are not computer geeks) will get scared off from the topic and frankly the name of the show isn't enticing either.

Re: Halt and Catch Fire (AMC) -- Remainder of Season 1 Thread

I always thought there was something off about Donna's scenes with Hunt. I guess I should have seen that coming, especially after it wasn't Hunt trying to get with her.

Though it seems unlikely, I hope this comes back for a second season. If it doesn't, Kerry Bishe deserves to land somewhere substantive.

Wow! Fantastic episode!

The reveal of the Macintosh at the end was great! A total "oh fuck" moment for Joe.

So the show takes place in 1983, it seems. Has the year been specified before?

Wouldn't Joe know about the Apple Lisa?
