Re: Game of Thrones -- "The Mountain and the Viper" -- 6/1/14

Nooooooo! Not Prince 'You killed my sister prepare to die'!!! Dammit. Just as Tywinn was getting called out too. That man never loses. Tyrion is going to have to come up with a plan B quick. Maybe Jamie has an escape plan up his sleeve (the sleeve of his golden hand of course)...

Interesting development of the Sansa character. She seems to be finally getting it and taking control of her destiny...

I think Dany is going to regret kicking 'Sir Khaleeeeeeeesi' out....

Awesome episode somewhat ruined by the OP's lack of a suitable thread title.

Re: Game of Thrones -- "The Mountain and the Viper" -- 6/1/14

I never even came close to liking a character on the show as much as I did Oberyn. I should've known better than to like a new character so much, but damn if Pedro Pascal wasn't so good in the role. God damn it.

It just hit me I don't even remember seeing the preview of next week's episode...likely on account of being in a ball and crying.

God damn it.

Arrogance will get you every time...

Dammit. The look on Tyrion's face was great.

I agree. As a non-book reader, I have to say that I was blown away. Missandrei's boobs were fabulous.

I hear there was also some kind of fight?

Oberyn was one of the few characters I was rooting for. That he died, along with a lot of Tyrion's chances... what a heartbreak.

Plus Jorah sent out to the wilderness.

I did at Sansa turning heel. Apparently that means she gets to wear a costume leftover from Maleficent.

Both Stark girls are going to grow up to be quite twisted...

Not that Pascal wasn't good, but b/c of the flamboyance and finality of this part I always figured they could chase a name actor. I was surprised when they went with a relative unknown.

As a non-book reader I've finally admitted that non of my favorite characters have a chance in hell of meeting anything but a violent end.

How fucked up is it that Roose Bolton makes his bastard son he doesn't even love a Bolton, but Ned wouldn't make Jon a Stark?

Yeah, I didn't think of that. But my guess is that he had his reasons....

Anyway, great episode. That was even more graphic of a death than I remember in the books (I recall Oberyn repeatedly getting punched in the face until he was dead).

I really don't like what they are doing with Grey Worm and Missandei. Just a waste of time. I did love the scene with Jorah, glad to see they are keeping that part of Jorah's story.

Yea, Sansa is pretty awesome after she gets to the Vale...she's not a helpless, whiny baby anymore.

The king must grant you that honor. That piece of paper that Roose held was from Tywin (acting in the king's name, since Tommen is too young to rule), proclaiming Ramsay as now legitimate.

Seems like it would've been pretty easy to get your best friend that you just so happen to help become the King to legitimize your son. Whatever his reasons: "the theory" or Cat's irrational hatred of a innocence child Ned had the chance to give Jon a better life than the Wall.

I wonder if the Mountain can live down the shame of winning by having to play possum. It was obvious to everyone that Oberyn would have won if not for his fake out. Sure, all is fair, but it's still a bitch move, unbecoming for such a decorated fighter.

I wonder if the guards will be telling Baelish that they have a Stark at the gate.

That's the first time TV violence has made me feel queezy. Gruesome stuff. You knew as soon as Oberyn didn't go for an instant kill that he was done for.

Re: Game of Thrones -- "The Mountain and the Viper" -- 6/1/14

In the previous episode, when Bronn declined to be Tyrion's champion, he described how fighting the Mountain might go: "[Bronn said he would] dance around until [the Mountain] is so tired of hacking at me, he drops his sword. Get him off his feet somehow. But one misstep and I'm dead."

It was a rather accurate prediction of how Oberyn's fight with the Mountain played out.
