I'm not just talking about the look of the character (and based on the above photos, I agree; a mask would have been much better than the goopy makeup job) I'm more curious as to how that character moves around in the game. Carl was lumbering around, barely mobile, looking like he was going to collapse from the weight of all that crap at any minute. Cosplay isn't just the cos, it's the play as well. You have to act like the character (hence a reason that Chloe helped her team win by planting a kiss on that other girl. Well, that or just the fact that girls kissing girls is kinda hot. You decide). Does Mannequin lumber about like that in the game? Seriously, I've never played Silent Hill, so I just don't know.

Yeah, Carl's costume just looked very amateurish. Worse than Jesse's MegaMan. And, as was mentioned, he seemed to feel like he should've won something.
Still a good episode. Must be cool to be able make a living out of cosplaying.

The Silent Hill creature was simply too hard of a costume to pull off, I'm pretty sure the actual creature from the movie was largely done with CGI.
I am not familiar with Digimon but I thought the costume was fairly effective and surprised it didn't do better in the contest. I guess he should have finished off the feet.

Carl was way out of his league with that costume. The joints were awful and not anywhere near what they look like in the game or film. Everything was off. He took on too much in too little time.
The fact that he thought he would get anything but a horses ass trophy was hilarious. Very little attention to detail on that costume. Great concept but you need a lot more time to do something like that an have it "work".

The Warhammer winner was really impressive. I bet that costume was worked on for the better part of a year.
It's nice the show has got some new blood (even if I'm not really feeling either of the new guys just yet), but I do miss Becky not being on the show.

who would have thought AA batteries would be worth their weight in gold in a cosplay costume contest line? I thought they had some weird RC car high watt batteries or something but they were just AA.
That "worbo" material looked pretty neat. i've never heard or scene it before.

The costumes seemed a lot better overall last night... I wonder if they were given more time to prepare for this event?
The battery nonsense was a bit ridiculous, especially considering they were AAs. I also thought they were using a specialty rechargeable battery pack at first. If you're using a common battery type there is no excuse not to have spares on hand. Hell, I used AAs in my Halloween costume last year and had plenty of extras on hand.

This show is starting to go into the silly region. Who doesn't have spare batteries when using a prop that takes batteries. It kind of irritated me seeing them scramble for something they should have had as backup.
I did however enjoy looking at Riki

While I'm not all that interested in the contest aspect of this show, I shoot a ton of cosplay, so it's a small treat to see cosplayers whom I know on the show (mainly the southeastern cosplayers since I also live in the ATL). Katie (along with her friend) was nice enough to shoot with me for a bit on the Saturday evening at AWA last year.

Yeah, I can't believe that none of them thought to bring spare batteries (since three of them had electronic elements to their costumes). Even geek boy was smart enough to have a handful of extra AAs
I did like that they took some fairly common cosplayed characters (Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman, Batgirl) and show the detail that should be applied to them. You'll see a ton of Wonder Women (almost literally...it's always overweight girls that wear Wonder Woman costumes. What's up with that??) at any con. But none of the level of quality seen on this episode

Riki's costume looked crazy good this week. She's clearly a cut above most of the other people on this show with her finish work. I'll take that over say the Crabcat ladies, who come up with some pretty amazing stuff, but stuff that always has a roughness to it because they always go so big. Riki's stuff looks like she's damn near ready to walk on a movie set.

Seeing that picture (shudder) reminded me of something; maybe one of the girls on the show could do a Faye Valentine of Cowboy Bebop, and do it right. The only people that cosplay as Faye are either young prepubescent girls that can't fill the costume out properly, or.....men. I don't get it. I'd like to see a girl with a major set of ya-yas (see what I did there?) do that costume justice.
Edit: Of course, had I just used this obscure tool called "Google", I'd have found this: http://www.yayahan.com/portfolio/cos...faye-valentine

As someone said, I think Riki probably wins the contest if her bow lights up. That costume was screen-ready for Hollywood.
This was obviously the episode where the show got clearance for anything from DC Comics.

Yeah, everyone having a battery crisis was ridiculous.
Other than that, the costumes were really great, especially Riki and Katie. And Yaya's Batgirl costume was excellent.
Costume images, spoilered for size:
Yaya as Batgirl
Chloe as Poison Ivy
Meg as Harley Quinn
Michelle as Catwoman
Riki as Ashe
Katie as Wonder Woman

Good show tonight but the one woman judge, Doom kitty?
She wore a Power Girl costume. Looked awful she's basically a blob and was blobbing out of her costume and not in a good way.

Jesse did a great job. He's had a good turnaround since MegaMan.
Carl improved but his stuff still look amateurish.

^I would pet that kitty.
Loved Jesse's costume. Miguel's was good. Once again, I appreciate Carl's ambition, but he's not quite talented enough to pull it off. The sculpting on that silicone looked a bit rough, but I think the paint job was the biggest problem.
When they all got together for drinks after the competition, the Crabcat girls and Chloe were dressed as Rocko, Hef, and Filburt, which makes me love them even more than I already did.

I thought the sculpt looked good in clay form, but it seemed like some of the detail was lost in translation... I think the paint definitely wrecked it. Looking at pictures of the character, the patterns do have a kind of rough quality to them, but in a very different way. Carl's painted designs just looked rough in a sloppy way... like a grade school painting.

are Doomkitty and the Green Ranger employed by Wizard World? they seem to be judges at all their cons.
the Haunt outfit looked like it was made with toothpaste. Thorin Oakensheild was pretty great, though.
