Informally asking around my class last night, many people had watched Mad Men, not a one had watched GoT. In fact I was not able to find a soul in the class who had seen any episode of GoT. It surprised me. If you include audiences for re-airings, HBOGo and pirating, the potential weekly audience for GoT has got to be simply huge.
One season of dudes standing around smoking and trying to act clever was enough for me.

Book readers know the answer to this. Do you want to know or wait to see what the show says? Joffrey just died, you know.

Nah, I'll wait. I was just thinking out loud. They had the ceremony so an alliance by marriage would still be there but then again someone mentioned that they never got to consummate that marriage. So if this marriage is null and void then the only thing would be if they went through with the Loras/Cersei marriage. If the war is over, you don't really need an alliance.

Even if there's been premarital conflagrations, there still has to be a Shivaree to make it official.

You'd have thought that Tywin would have pulled a Swearengen & kept Ned around for conversations at the crenellations.

There were a lot of heads on poles at the Red Keep, so how do you know they got the right one? Maybe they put that Dubya looking head in the box by mistake.

They didn't consummate and also didn't produce a child, so even if Margery became queen, she would have lost out anyway with no heirs. I believe it would still have gone back to Robert's other children.

There is no shot from this angle in the episode itself. Heck, Jamie isn't even wearing his armor, which he has on at the wedding in the show. Maybe this a rehearsal or something.

And he got his hand back.

Obviously this is a rehearsal shot.

The Queen of Thorns made it PERFECTLY clear to Tywin that he still needed her. The war is not over, Baylon and Stannis still live, and everyone pretty much hates the Lannisters.

If Highgarden were to pull their support they could switch to Stannis, Dorne didn't even give half a shit about defending Kings Landing and is VOCALLY Anti-Lannister, the Riverlands have been burned and raped, with their host slaughtered at the Red Wedding (by the Lannisters), the Vale did not come to Joffery's defense, and their Liege Lord's wife is sitting in The Eyrie ranting about how the Lannister's killed her husband and tried to execute Tyrion, The Iron Islands are still in open revolt, and the north...The North Remembers.

Interesting. I knew all of this but the last point is one I didn't think of. Stannis is now UNIVERSALLY accepted as third in line for the Iron Throne

Tommen needs to knock a lady up quick. Somebody should check and see if Margaery is busy.

Re: Game of Thrones -- "The Lion and the Rose" -- 4/13/14

Just now got around to watching the second episode. So glad I stayed out of this thread all week long.

Considering what happened, I'm shocked it wasn't spoiled for me in the past 6 days.

What a great ending to this episode.

Re: Game of Thrones -- "The Lion and the Rose" -- 4/13/14

I'm late to the party here - was out of the country. Loved this episode and was thrilled that it wasn't spoiled for me (though through general buzz got the feeling something big happened). I so love this show. It just delivers and delivers. Charles Dance is so damn good. Loved the JAmie and Bronn training. Good stuff.

And checking that recasting stuff - I never knew that was Tara Fitzgerald as Mrs Stannis. She was pretty hot and fully naked in Sirens. That was twenty long years ago.

Re: Game of Thrones -- "The Lion and the Rose" -- 4/13/14

I am late to the party also after getting caught up on demand. I'm thankful this wasn't spoiled for me like the Red Wedding was. I had recorded this ep and as soon as Margarey said he was choking my recording froze and left me hanging. I had to set the DVR again and wait another hour to see what happened.

As much as I hated his character, Jack did an amazing job portraying him and will be missed.
