Very good ep. Agree with all that Paxton brought some good stuff to the show. The guy is just so damn likable.
Im in the minority as far as Deathlock. I think he looks lame. But i guess a tv show budget has its limits.

You're not going to get this on a TV budget:

In order to make a cyborg, they would pretty much have to make a full CGI character, which would bust the budget, or put the actor in a suit that would have him staggering around like a Borg. He would either be in so much gear that it would just be hanging off of him like sports gear and not cybernetic body parts, or he would be so stiff he could barely move.

The overlay X-ray image of Deathlok made up a lot of ground on his "lame" suit. I can forgive them now.

So will Marvel work Alpha Flight into something in the future with the mention of Dept. H? At least maybe Vindicator.

So my wife and I sat down and watched the last four episodes after giving up around episode 6.
The show has definitely improved
Most of the characters are still mediocre to downright terrible, but the storytelling has gone up several notches. We'll definitely be sticking around to see where the storyline is going.

I would still toss Ward, Skye, and one of the two nerds, but the show has definitely been living up to more of its potential. I don't even necessarily care that it be more Marvel-y. Just be really good on its own. On that level, they've been succeeding more lately.

It's actually pretty cool for someone who dropped out to notice the difference. Hopefully it continues.

'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Is About To Become The Show Everyone Wanted It To Be
It seems after months of internet hate, the (highly rated) ABC series is about to become the show people have wanted it to be since the beginning. A show that does the comic book thing. A show that says it lives in a world, the world in this case being the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But it couldn’t have gotten here overnight, because had it been this show out of the gate, it would have failed catastrophically.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is a show that needed to be built away from the gimmick of the MCU connected world. As Joss Whedon perfectly put it during development “we couldn’t have a show that said ‘Iron Man was just here, but he left right before you showed up’.” Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. needed to take time being its own thing. Living by its own rules. Now that it has, Marvel’s finally ready to unleash the beast that is the most daring attempt at trans-media ever made by a major studio.
Now that the core viewership has been identified, Marvel can build the show with in-series limited events. In this case, the event being something billed as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Uprising. Similar to the way comic books operate on limited-event crossovers to create the idea of a full blown world, now that its characters have been solidified, Marvel Studios can have some fun with its pet project. Based on the tease at the end, it would seem the grand plan is to tie Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. into the events of the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier. How deeply those ties go is currently unknown, but since one of the big deals is the inclusion of Thor: The Dark World‘s Jaimie Alexander as her character Lady Sif in an episode, perhaps things are about to take off the way people have hoped the series would.
The idea that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. could have pulled this off from the beginning is a fantasy. Had the series come out of the gate with nothing but major universe tie-ins, the series would have tanked before episode two because it would have said to the viewing public “we’re only going for hardcore fans of the MCU right now.” Playing to hardcore fans is fun, but rarely does it yield financial benefit. Every film leading up to the The Avengers never grossed much more than $600 million worldwide. Good numbers, but not the record shatters numbers of The Avengers. Marvel’s nothing if not the king of the waiting game. They knew world-building comes first and games come second.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. needed its moment to breathe. Its moment to world-build. Without it, the show would have been left out in the cold. But now that it’s had that moment to find itself, the fun can begin. What audiences need to learn from this series is the things you want will come, just not right away. Marvel knew this season of S.H.I.E.L.D. was going to end here, and they knew the longer they waited, the bigger the reception was going to be.

I loved the scene in the SHIELD safehouse with all sorts of weapons hidden in the cabinets and whatnot. The two there did a better job vs. Deathlok than everyone else later (rocket launcher notwithstanding).

no "if" about it, Captain takes place in between
You realize you're in the small, small minority of people watching the show who have no intention of seeing Captain America. I don't think they're worried about viewers not seeing Captain America. I'm also sure that the episode will probably work by itself, but it will spoil Captain America.

Did all those constant breaks in the action ruin the show's momentum?
Hopefully having new episodes on consistently will see an uptick in ratings. I'm sure the Captain America flick will help too.
Marvel's Agents of SHIELD's new Uprising series of episodes failed to bring in new viewers in preliminary ratings for Tuesday (April 1).
The Marvel universe program earned a series low of 1.8 (5.39m) at 8pm, followed by The Goldbergs and Trophy Wife notching 1.5 (4.47m) at 9pm and 1.0 (2.92m) at 9.30pm respectively

I like the show but the elephant in the room is the main cast. They're just not interesting enough to hold the show together when the pace of the story slows down.

Yea... I'm hoping they clean house with some of the agents and bring on Cobie Smulders.

That pilot alone cost them millions of viewers which will never give the show a second chance.

I started rewatching once Bill Paxton rejoined. It's a much improved show. Not an excellent show by any means, but much improved.
The clairvoyant's voice sounded just like the WHOPR.

Not for me..

Yep, that's why I mentioned a limited TV Budget. I know they can only do so much. But you knew that...
Either way, I've never been a fan of the design of Cybernetic dudes like Deathlok and DC's Cyborg. It just looks corny and yes....LAME.
